Upgrading booking

I'm booked in PE on MAN-MCO-MAN in November (K class). I've just looked on the VS website & Upper Class (lowest fare) is available for only £600 more than what I've already paid - very tempting as all the LGW / MAN 744's are fitted with Upper Class Suite.

I'm more than happy to pay for the "upgrade". I guess I'll have to pay more than just the difference between the K fare & the lower UC one. Am I best to try this through Flying Club (am only a Red member with 20k miles) or just the general VS booking number? Any help / comments appreciated.

Welcome to V-Flyer, Kraken.

I have always found the Flying Club to be very helpful, whenever I have rung them.

I have no idea what the cost will be, and am not sure if there will be a 'change fee' , for this upgrade - but they will tell you.

Remember - there is no Clubhouse at MAN, but the suites are very nice.. if somewhat addictive. [:I][:I]

Hello Kraken, welcome to V-Flyer :)

Last time I upgraded a K fare to Upper, the change fee was £50. That was a few years ago now though.

As Nick has said, just give FC a call and they will sort it out for you.

Regards

Thanks for the advice. I'll call FC tomorrow & see what they say. The difference between the PE K fare & the UC "lowest" fare seems to be £579, so I guess I am looking at a cost of £579 + whatever they charge for amending a K fare.

I might just upgrade for the return leg as I have to drive on arrival in Orlando & it's a daylight flight. I'd get better use of the UCS on the return leg.

Welcome to v-flyer!!

To add to what others have said you should also add yuour flights to the itinary section as MCO is a popular route and there may be a few Golds/UC pax flying (so possibility of clubhouse access!)

obviously this makes no odds if you fly UC both ways!! (as you get access anyway)

I called FC a few days ago to upgrade - got through on the normal FC Red number and was quickly transferred to someone in the "Upper Class Team" when the operative realised I was wanting to spend money.

Got the upgrade from PE to UC for £597, which is under £20 less than the difference in PE "Lowest" [K] and UC "Lowest" [Z] fares on the VS website. They did want to charge me a £100 change fee on the K ticket, but a polite comment about the K & Z fare rules being the same lead to a manager being consulted & the fee waived. Result! Roll on November.

One interesting thing though - when the operator booked by seats, she said that nearest to the front of the plane available was 8A going out - not a problem. After the call, I checked via the FC website and 7A is available - very odd.

Is the bit on the V-Flyer fare codes section about Z fares correct, i.e. you can take a guest into the Clubhouse / Lounge before the flight? (I can find no mention of this on the VS website).

If it is correct, then great, my friend travelling in X [lowest of the low, almost, I know] will be very happy - even if it is the Escape Lounge at MAN!

Paul H has had a different experience, though. [:(!] It may be worth ringing to check beforehand, and making a note of who you speak to.

Even though you shouldn't have to. [V][?]
