Heh - I got 3 workmates to sign up for FC this week via the MilesMoreFriends program.

They're all flying LGW>MCO today, in PE = 22500 bonus miles for me [^][^][^]

Just sayin' ;)

Cheers

Only slightly related, but perhaps we should open a V-Flyer FlyingCo account and then (once there's enough miles in the pot) give away a free flight to a V-Flyer member as a prize...

Great idea but as I'm finding (from the steady VERY slow progress in my FlyingCo account) the cheap seats don't work :D

Intersting proposal - but how would it work [?] Would personal FC miles still be able to be earnt as well [?]

Yup, FlyingCo is designed for companies of 20 or less. Each individual gets their full mileage and tier points, but the 'company' account also gets a trickle of points if the fare is qualifying (ie, not deep discounts).

Michael, I hope your friends are on a qualifying fare!!

One person in the past I introduced I didn't get the miles as they were not on the correct fare.

Two work colleagues flew out UC on business to KL, I had to call to get those bonus points added probably because it was a code share flight with MA, then noticed I got them again when one of them flew to JNB last month [^]

Yeah, I should think they are. When our part of the department is on company business, we're usually booked in W on VS :)

Actually, I'm really lucky because most of the guys doing the same role as me, or in 'da management' have been over to at least one of the offices in the US before and therefore signed up to FC. This time though, 1 of the guys had been a couple of years back but never signed up for FC, and the other 2 are making their first visits to the US. Dunno why any of the other FC members in the office didn't think of the referrals (heh - like I care) :D

LOL - one of my Norwegian colleagues is kicking himself that he missed out. Something tells me that I won't get this type of opportunity again :D

I won't get it at all, coz I don't pay my staff enough for them to go abroad! (That's what they tell me anyway :D )

I've just recommended two friends who are doing an open jaw to NY and out of SFO. I'm guessing they'll book restricted economy from the VS website. Will this be one of the Qualifying classes? Was told it has to be at least y b l m, and I'm sure they'll be in Q. Grr.

From the Ts&Cs of the milesmorefriends referral:

For every person you refer who joins flying club, you will earn miles on the basis of the cabin in which they complete their first qualifying round trip with Virgin Atlantic: the following miles will be awarded: Economy (Y, B, L and M classes on all routes) 3,000 miles, Premium Economy (W, K, H and S classes) 7,500 miles and Upper Class (J, D and Z classes) 15,000 miles. Some discounted booking classes, special offers and complimentary upgrades will not qualify for miles. Travel on codeshare flights and partner airlines will not qualify for miles.

However, it does also say:
The appropriate number of miles will only be credited to your account once your friend has completed their first qualifying flight.

The way I'm reading that, I reckon it means that if even if they've taken a Q fare already, if they take a Y B L M W K H S J D or Z fare before the close date of 31st August '04, then you'd still get the referral bonus.

Thats how I read it. I know I won't get the milesd until they fly, hence me looking forward to when me and my brother fly PE to HKG in October and I get 7000 for referring him.

Just think that their class will be Q. Although they've got SRB's PA to book it for them. I think they know him through a freind so they might be in a better class of E.

Hmmmm.....on that Ts&Cs page, it does say that: This offer is valid until 31 August 2004 and any qualifying flights must be taken before this date. Virgin Atlantic reserves the right to cancel this offer at any time.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking there won't be a referral program in October - I just don't know how they'd treat signups from the current offer at that time [?]

Woooh - gotta be a good chance there [8D]. One thing though - AFAIK, if you book in Q (or whatever fare class) and are then either op-upgraded or upgrade with miles, then your mileage credit is still for the originally booked class wherever you sit on the plane (not quite sure if this is the same with cash upgrades though) :)

With cash upgrades you do get the upgraded bonus. I upgraded one way from E to PE and despite them saying no at the desk, I got extra miles and 3, not 2 teir points when I checked my account back home.

On 16th May, I wrote:

Well, I got the dates slightly wrong - 2 of them were outbound on 16th and inbound arriving yesterday (23rd), the other one goes on Wednesday, returning a week on Friday [:I]

Still, FC never ceases to amaze me - the miles for each of the guys that have just returned this weekend are already in my FC account - kewl 15k bonus to start the week off :D

Too right - with the next 7.5k, plus the mileage from my next trip in July, I should be back up at the 80k mark. Always nice to have that in the bank ;)
