Could I go into a land side CH before checking in?

It's not uncommon for me to go straight from work to JFK (where I am now, about to get on VS010). I also would prefer to change out of my work clothes for the flight. Do you think they would let me in to the CH before I've checked in? I don't usually carry a clothes bag on, unless I'm travelling particularly light. The only other options are to change before pick up or in a loo at the airport (ugh).
Has anyone tried going to the CH first?

Well could create a problem depending on the CH agent. They normally have a printed list with people that are CH entitled so in theory could work. Normally you would have a BP (err boarding card) at this point.
Would also require more walking in JFK to go to the CH first.
But I think I have a simple solution that I have done personally. Checkin and say you are going to shower in the CH and then check a bag in. You can use the gold line both times and you would not have to carry a bag on the plane.

Ben,
I dont recall there being that much distance between checkin and the CH..that being said your option is the most sensible - I guess he could try at the CH first and fallback on your option.
Of course another option would be to check luggage at the gate (granted more useful option for airports which have airside Club Houses)

Christopher,
What I often do is put my casual clothes (and occasionally, a sleepsuit) in a small carryon and change into them in the restroom after checking in. If you need to use the work clothes later, you can take one of those lightweight hanging bags with you.
This will be my method in Newark in a few weeks when I head to London on VS2 after my workday in the States.

In JFK when you check in you have to take your bag to the TSA agent so I would suggets checking in then taking your bag to the clubhouse, changing, showering and when you finished drop your bag off with the TSA guys but make sure you do it at least 60 mins before departure so your bags make the flight!

Good point Declan. I suggest that you do a combo between the three replies.
Save a SleepSuit. Change into the the SS in the CH and put your clothes in a garmet bag. Change back in your clothes in Revivals. They will press them in Revivals so you will look dashing at work or home.
