The other day I bought a Top Gear DVD anbd one of the features on it was to test how well a car would resist a dangerous crosswind (i.e. driving metres away from two 747 engines).

Anyway, Virgin's G-VAST was used for the test which was done a few years ago. Does anyone know how the BBC managed to get exclusive use of this bird and which airfield was the test carried out.

Thanks

Yes it was Prestwick, there are several links to the video available, here is one of them.

I love the way that they blur the "Virgin" logo on the tail, but leave the blatant "Virgin Atlantic" along the side of the fuselage readable [:p][ii]

They forget the blur the tail when the Citron goes accross.

Also is it just me or does the pilot only put on 2/4 engines to full power when the Citron is used?

I am not sure the VT editor understood the aircraft's controls [:I];)

For both the Mondeo and the 2CV only engines 2 and 3 were used. If you can blow away a 2CV with 2 engines imagine what it could do with all 4 engines!

So why use a 4 holer? Why not a 2 holer? Except for the fact this is television of course ;)
