I put in the required info on the Advance Passenger Information page at VS, but can anyone tell me should I be able to see that info when I go to Manage Your Flights, or once entered is it stored on a database.[:?]

Just concerned that I can't see what I keyed in and didn't want to arrive at LHR to find out that the info got lost somewhere.[:#]

Regards

Paul

Our API info does not display don't know if this is because it's a reward booking, must say on BA.com it's a lot easier to update your API.

I called VS customer services a couple of weeks ago to give them my details as the VS website kept crashing after I entered my details. I kept checking to see if they had been added on and as they hadn't I expected to have to give them at check in. Checked my booking last night at home and the API details were there, so maybe there is a delay in the details showing?

The type of fare shouldn't affect API requirements![V] methinks VS need to sort that out!

Thought I would post an update as the thread came up again

I contacted VS yesterday morning and asked if they did have the details that I had entered for our VH booking and the guy informed me yes everything was there. [y]

I went on to ask if the info for my VS booking made with miles was also OK and again he said yes. [y]

I've just checked the API I entered on the VS website (Flying Club section) last Monday. Seems that VS had changed me from being Male to Female in this time & also lost the name of the Resort I am staying at. If you have provided API via the VS website, I would suggest you check it prior to check-in / online check-in & departure.

A couple of comments:
1. On the sex change thing - is there a chance you've been done by using a wheel mouse. I'm forever making a selection then trying to scroll down, only to find I'm adjusting my previous selection.

2. Last week the guardian had an article where they had got hold of a guy's passport number based on FF and / or reservation code details on a boarding pass stub. Be careful with those stubs, and airlines - watch out for the information you publish without passwords or some other secondary confirmation.

Nope. It's a genuine website problem.

I've done mine 3 times since it was launched, and am running through it again for my flight in a fortnight. Each and every time, it resets to Female, despite my selecting male.

Wheel/no wheel/Mac (1 button!) doesn't make a difference.

Hi all, hope I'm using the right thread here! This relates to my recent post in the Clubhouse regarding using drive-through when paying for CDC using miles, I was particularly interested in Pat's comment on that thread. Pat mentioned, contrary to what the Premier Team told me last night, that you can definitely use drive-through provided you have provided your API in advance.

....So, knowing that I had entered all the API stuff online several months ago I've just been on to va.com to check it's all still intact. On first accessing your booking on va.com it is not apparent that they have your API details, since it invites you to answer the What are your travel plans on arrival in to the US question. However if you re-answer this and click on submit it then links you to the rest of your previously provided information. Rather confusing I'd say, why can't they simply display on the earlier page, along with the rest of your details, that your API has been received?

Anyway, on looking at my details - just like the rest of you - I'd become a female, but my travelling companion Steve hadn't, ie. he retained his male status! I also noticed that the system had removed the hotel name on the first line of the US address, it had however retained the rest of the address, incl. zip code on the remaining lines [:?]

So I corrected the details, re-submitted and then went back to check.

This time I'm neither male nor female, ie. neither item is checked - but it has retained the hotel name!!

...just had another look at our booking and only half an hour later I'm back to being female and the Hotel name has vanished from first line of address! Wish they'd sort these issues out, from all the discussion on here it seems the API section of the site has been riddled with problems for months[n]

I have just checked my API on the VS site... I am still a male![}:)]

I agree it is not obvious that the previously entered information is held as you have to complete the 'What are your travel plans on arrival in to the US' question again.

That opens up a whole new can of worms.. or am I being particularly dense this morning?[?]

It states on the VS website that 'there is a requirement for all passengers to provide their country of residence and (for non-US residents) details of their full address (street name and number, city, zip code and state) for their first nightÕs accommodation in the US.'

If you select the 'Fly Drive' option you are only prompted for the City/State. You have to select the 'Staying in the US' option to get the prompt for full address details.

Given that a fair percentage of pax are going to be fly drive, and they fill out the API information accordingly, what, if any, problems will arise at immigration?

Food for thought?[:?]

Here we are a few months one and, believe it or not, the API part of the site is still not fixed [n] No matter how many times I select myself as male it switches me to female next time I check! The first line of address issue that others have mentioned is also still there.

I'll call FC tomorrow to make sure they have the correct details. Our API needs to be OK as its a condition of using drive-thru check-in ;)

well this little thread completely answered all my questions!

I agree it's a very poor part of the VA site, which is odd given that an efficient web site to deal with API has to save time (and money) at check in. I do wonder what (if any) usabilty tests are done as this is a classic example of something that is easily addressed, but unchecked will lead to confusion, phone calls and gerneral annoyance!
