A bit different font it looks like, and the tail background is different too. It may not be final, but it looks awesome!

Interesting idea, should we see who would be interested in being on the first flight assuming we could get seats?

Bizzare concept. The only thing "Virgin" about this airline is the paint.

It has the Stars and Stripes on the winglets doesnt it- you can just about make it out.

I wonder if a Varga girl will be added ala vs and dj...new font for the writing and it has the slightly revised virgin signature logo. Something tells me the new VS livery (when it comes) will have Virgin Atlantic written in this style and will have the revised tail logo.

I'm not sure about that, I think the change in livery was done purposely to remove themselves from the rest of the Virgin Group Airlines in order to protect themselves against any more criticism. However, I do like this hipper and younger look and it would be great if the other airlines adapted this style too.

Hell yeah, I don't know how we could get on there, but we have to try. We must be VAM's biggest fans! [^]

I've already caused an arguement on airliners.net but reading all the posts there seems to be some real bad feeling about VAM. Has it had a bad press out in the US because I can't understand why they're all painting (excuse the pun) such an awful picture and predicting nothing but doom and gloom.[?]

Tha majors are still all up in arms about it Ade. (Trying to prevent it launching).

As far as I know, they may have the planes, but they're absolutely not allowed to operate yet.

Well look at it from the major's point of view, they've just about got fares to where they need to be to start to turn a profit, capacity is under control at last, then along comes VS-A promising to bring 30 odd new planes into the domestic arena with better seat's IFE etc, just what the big boy's want to see,so they will throw up all kinds of dirt to delay VS-A as long as they can.

What I've heard is essentially the same, that there was some behind the scenes maneuvering to get the government to slow down its approval of the operating permit. Not surprisingly, as with all political nonsense this happened around the time of the Dubai port deal fiasco.

REally- I think its very Virgin looking- in fact not alot different to the VK livery- ie: New style signature logo- with appropriate Virgin titles on the side.

Crazy how the Legacy carriers are so against a bit of competition especially considering they recieve a lot of governement funding to keep them alive, compared to their equivilents in the UK! I wish Virgin America luck, I really do hope that they can do it.

A.net always cracks me up- the other day they were complaining about how fast post 9/11 VS dropped YYZ and ORD- do they not realise this is because the UK governement do not keep its airlines alive?

Well, actually, there's really only a couple small similarities: The Virgin tail logo, the red color, and the word "virgin". And it's actually a lot different from VK's livery. VK has the "Virgin" color scheme, along with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Blue. Although VK has the new virgin tail logo on some it's aircraft, it's still almost the same.

The old saying "glass half empty or half full" springs to mind.

I see them being very mcuh the same:

- Identical tail logo to the average pax.
- Red engines like VS
- Flag of country on the winglets
- Virgin in the name
- Fuselage that is predominatly one colour (VA: White, VS: Silver, VK:WHite)

There are only major differences to the likes of us with clever eyese ;)

Well, first of all, VS does not have a white livery, and don't forget ol' Virgin Blue, who doesn't either. Also, only VS has the flag of the country on the winglet, VK and DJ (and TV if you can count it now) do not have a flag on the winglet. And even though you say that the average passenger can't tell the difference between the new and the old tail logo (which I think they can. The old one is much lumpier, whereas the new one is very sleek), don't forget that basically the whole tail design is new. I don't know, like you said it's in the eye of the beholder, but as a very observant aviation enthusiast, my opinion is that is looks nothing like any other Virgin airline livery.

Like the new livery. I think it looks neat and fresh. In the states, going for the clean "eurowhite" style with the red highlight on the tail stands out much more than it does in Europe. (eg. Jetblue)

I think it's gorgeous--bright--and yes, ewr--sleek, but v. noticeably Virgin. I can't wait for the first opp to climb on board, am still hopeful that will occur whilst can still climb.

The Varga girl would surely raise eyebrows here in the
hypercritical, ultra politically correct US. Other than that, this is a clean design with little to criticize.

Pilots, start your engines (soon?).
