Happy Cinco de Mayo, A drinking holiday.
Also normally a day used to celebrate the end of the Spring semester.
So have a pint or ten.

We have similar celebration days over here. They're called "Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday" and "Saturday".
Although there is one particular group of people that have started a movement for a new drinking holiday in the UK - "Sunday", but it's not as widely observed as the others...

Well Cinco de Mayo does offer some historic interest.
The day celebrates the Mexicans defeating the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
Also Tony Blair was re-elected a year ago today.
It is International No Pants Day
The Depression started in the USA in 1893 with the crash of the NY Stock market, mainly do to excessive margin lending and other problems
Also (and maybe the most important) Italy occupied Ethiopia which just may have started certian political upraisings.
So celebrate this day. If you need a further reason, I made the Dean's list yet again and maybe all A's.

Last time I checked the depression started on October 29, 1929. Although I guess if you drink too much on Cinco de Mayo that could look like May 5, 1893.

Nope - there was more than one depression. It IS possible for two people to be right without the need for argument
THIS one did start in 1893.
Besides - what are you doing in this thread? You're not old enough to drink [}:)]

Thats what I thought before I have the upmost joy of taking three fun filled American History classes.
The what you are refering to the the Great Depression which started on Black Thursday on October 24, 1929.
The depression in 1893 is normally referred to in history books as the Panic of 1893. Many banks closed, US Money (banknotes) could no longer be traded for gold and four major railroads went belly up. Banks over lent money. Banks called loans as the value of assets (silver and gold) securing the loans declined quickly. Tons of people became unemployed. This led to the whole Coxey's Army thing.
Certianly the Great Depression is better know and more trend in textbooks. Also grandparents can tell stories about it as it is more recent.

Hope you did well and hope your school district paid for the test. Sad thing is that some schools do not issue credit for AP classes. I go the royal **** over on that deal.
Wish you the best in your studies. What do you want to major in?

Thanks for the luck, I took my SATs today as well.
Nope, despite the richness of my town it is too cheap to pay for our AP tests, so I had to pay $80 each for the history and the english tests. Stupid College Board and their monopoly.
Well, I won't graduate for another year, but I'm probably going to major in Mathmatics and, if it's offered, minor in Aerospace Engineering.
