Singapore Airlines - upgrading business to first?

I am flying from Singapore to San Francisco later in the month and am booked in J with Singapore airlines - i wondered if anyone has flown first on SA on this route and if you think the 50,000 miles to upgrade to it would be worth it??

Any idea if and how i can redeem virgin miles to upgrade on SA?

Of course it's worth it ;).

Whether you can do it with Virgin miles or not, I'm not entirely sure. I you can redeem VS miles for 100% rewards on SQ, but not sure about upgrades.

This also used to be the case with Star Alliance airlines, you could redeem outside of your "home" airline's scheme for a flight but not an upgrade, and this is now starting change to include upgrades.

Either a phonecall to SQ or Flying Club may answer your question.

Even if you can't get the upgrade, Raffles on the 747 is still very good.

You can't upgrade an SQ flight with Virgin Miles.

I'm presuming you got the 50k figure from SQ's award chart? If so, that applies to KrisFlyer miles, not VS ones.

If you can get the upgrade - go for it![y]

I think that at some point everyone who can should try out either SQ or EK first(or both:D), especially on a long route such as that[8D]
