API Online Problems

Hi All,
I thought I'd be organised and update the family's API details.
3 problems......
1) I'm always Female (but honest I'm not and never have been, I note on another thread that this is not uncommon)
2) Upon refresh the House number of the property we'll be staying at just disappears
3) My son's details highlight his date of birth (he's 15) and won't let me progress (I assume I need to enter his and my 11 year old daughter's details?)
I phoned the 'helpline'. The guy said he cannot see the details and that I can always update the information at the airport. Isn't this what the airlines don't want!
Also does anyone know if these problems will stop me from using online check-in?
Any advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Trevor

You are not the first that has had this problem.
See
this thread.I have yet to use it, so can't offer any solution.

^Lol why would API be asking for UK stuff like a postcode?!
It needs American info not UK addresses!

Because you hae to put in yoru UK address - and it wont let you use your own postcode - I just us 12345 and it lets you enter the info

Umm - I must agree with Lipstick here. I've just gone into one of my flights, to update my API for next week.
It does NOT ask for any UK address whatsoever.
Here's the full (copy & pasted) list of fields it asks for after answering "Staying in the US" - "Other" question on the first screen:
Details for xxx
First name
Middle name
Last name
Date of birth
Gender
Male Female
Passport number
Issuing Country
Passport expiry date
Citizenship
Country of Residence
Address in the US
Number/Hotel Name
Street
City
State
Zip Code
(Although it DID, once again, revert me to "female" - sort it out Virgin! [n])

For a recent trip to NY, I went back into API countless times, and each time changed my gender to male, and each time entered the first line of my NY hotel address... eventually gave up; and had no problems at check-in/immigration/etc.
Don't remember putting in my own address though.....

I'm not surprised VS keep reverting you to female if you haven't quite worked it out yet yourself....

Thanks for the comments.
I emailed Virgin. They said I could call them and they would update the details - but they weren't any help when I phoned before!
Along with many on this board I am still female[:X]. I have though put the property number in the second line of address.
The non-acceptance of my son's birthdate is an interesting one. He is 15 but it won't accept 29 Oct 1990, but will accept 29 Oct 1989. I've left it at that. No problem with 11 year old daughter.
Actually that brings me on to an issue about the age required to be a flying club member. I signed my son up last year (with his real birthdate) - via a form I was given on a flight. However on the website it says 'must be over 18'. He has earned a number of miles so I'd better not incriminate him or myself. Any idea what the official line is? And indeed this could have a bearing on the API problem if there is some cross-check.

Aer John became a flying club member on his first flight after reaching the age of 12 and thereby paying the adult fare. He still is only 17 and there never have been any problems. I think at one stage it used to be 18 but it really doesn't make sense to be paying adult fares and not to be able to earn miles

No you don't!
Why would the airline or US immigration want your UK postcode?
They want the US zipcode of your first nights accomodation.
