Yet another question I have.... thanks for all the help so far.

Been looking at buying 2 UC seats to New York for early next year, and looking at how that can be best done with various cards ( AMEX etc ).

However, another issue is now that I see that even though I will be paying for my partners flight, my FC account will not be credited at all - instead they must register and begin accruing points / miles with no sharing of them.

Similarly, I was considering treating my parents to a week in NY next year also, so by my reckoning I'll get no points / miles from that :-(

In my case it seems it may be swinging me away from VS and instead to go with BA as their household account enables 2+ people to pool their travel together. Is there no Virgin equivalent? And, if there's not, can we pay for flights etc using points from *both* our accounts? e.g. if we have 40k miles each, redeem for one UC flight to NY ( 80k miles )

Thanks,

David.

Virgin do allow pooling of FC points - they allow 50/50 payments from two accounts.

On a recent reward trip I paid for my seat and 50% of my Wife's and 50% of my Son's seats out of my account. They paid the remainder from thier accounts.

On the statements it appeared that I paid for the outward trip and they paid for the return trip or vice versa.

I don't know if VS allow a more uneven split at all, so that the accounts are pooled.

I might very well be wrong, but I think the 'pooling' that Nick talks about above only applies on a 50:50 split, as you are in effect getting a one-way ticket from each account, rather than combining points from two accounts for one ticket. If I remember rightly, Gold members can have family accounts, but I think the 'supplementary travellers' can only be under 18's.

You can pool points 50/50 on each leg, so for a return trip 75/25 is possible, have used this for reward flights before with a mix of Mrs VSlf's points and mine.
