Silly question about flying club card

Just wondering, I've meaning to ask someone who may know this for ages.
Y'know when you sign up for flying club? well, y'know how the form asks you how you would like your name printed on the card?....I sort of had some fun with it and the name on my card reads ........
EL PRESIDENTE STROUD
Stroud being me last name, obviously i'm not a president. Will i still be able to use my card or have i rendered it useless for my 5 minutes of fun?
Alternatively, could i possibly use my "presidential" status to demand an upgrade???? I could always be the president of Bora Bora??!!

ROTFLMAO - excellent choice of display name - do your communications come through addressed to "Dear El Presidente" too? [8D]

Seriously though, I really don't know how it'd affect your FC membership. I see the signup page asks "Please print your name in the space provided as you would like it to appear on your personalised membership card (up to a maximum of 22 characters)" - but I don't see anything saying it has to be your actual name. The FC Ts&Cs don't mention it either. I would call FC to make sure :)

Cheers

I'd just love the greeting on the phone: "Good morning El Presidente, how can we help you today?" :D

It won't really make much of a difference - you may get soem strange looks!

Your actual airline tickets must have your correct name on them or you will be unable to fly.

AmEx offer an option to choose what you would like to have displayed on your card (upto 22 characters inc spaces normally) - they prefer if you have your surname spelt in full though. I did once ask about having a nickname on there, and they said it would be possible. I know some celebrities have their stage names on their cards or the shortened format like 'Madonna'.

If you were a Gold or Silver then it could start to get interesting as the staff are trained to make sure the person is entitled to use the relevant facility. Clubhouse access and J/W Check-in would be a no-no. It would have to have some proper relevance to your ticketed name.

Did make me laugh though! :)

Thanks,
Richard

I'll probably change it if the day comes that i ever reach silver or gold status, but the Stroud bit is my real last name, so hopefully, while i'm still red it shouldn't be a problem.
Glad i made you all laugh! :D

Hi jetgirl,

Why change it? Just move to a third world country, adopt citizenship, stand for election, bribe a few officials, rig the election, assassinate the opposition and hey-presto you can be El Presidente - simple! :D:D:D
