Hello,
I am flying from SFO to LHR and have made a meal selection of Hindu Non Vegetarian. What is typically served from SFO to LHR and from LHR to SFO when this meal is pre ordered? Is it very spicy? (Can't handle spicy food!)

Thank you.

Hi Internetman, and welcome [y]

There's ONE example of a hindu meal on airlinemeals.net, but in the "regular" category, rather than the "special meals" section.

Photo 107:
Aircraft type & class: 747-400, Economy
Business or leisure trip: Leisure
Meal type: Snack, preodered Hindu dinner, breakfast
Contents of the meal: Special Meal (Hindu), Sweetcorn salad, vegetable curry and rice, fruit salad, rice cake instead of roll
Breakfast- tinned fruits, rice cake instead of muffin
Drink: Apple Juice
Comments: Fairly bland curry otherwise average economy meal.
Rating 1-10 (worst-best): 4

Thanks...its my first time travelling alone and really want to get the right food selection. Is there anyway to know what they are going to serve on the day of departure?

In my experience, airlines never serve anything which could remotely be called spicy. Their food has to be acceptable, essentially, to all palates, so they're not going to produce anything outrageous. You'll be fine, I'm sure.

VS flights to Mumbai/Delhi serve spicy-ish meals.
Not blow you mind vindaloos but really tasty leaving a nice tingling sensation in the mouth.

The Brits seem to forget that spices should be flavourful and not just have a "burn your mouth and turn it numb" effect.

As far as i'm aware special meals don't change for months on end - when i was crew i seemed to serve up the SAME kosher meal for two years!! (That's the same as in same menu not the exact same meal...)

It shouldn't be anything too spicey.
