Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere (couldnt find it!), but I have had mail from Tesco today, confirming they have teamed up with Virgin Holidays.

Tesco clubcard points are redeamable for Virgin holidays, and the great news is that each voucher is worth 4 x its value, so a £10 clubcard voucher is worth £40 off your holiday!

Seems like good value...

News to me.

Was it a specific mailing, or included in your ?quarterly? Clubcard statement, with the money off vouchers?

There was a special leaflet enclosed with my clubcard vouchers.

the link locutus has found seems to restrict deal to Australia, however the leaflet I have states:

"you can exchange as many clubcard vouchers as you want and you'll get 4x their value in holiday tokens"

"you can pay for all or part of your holiday using your holiday tokens"

only conditions seems to be

- tokens valid on all Virgin Holidays except megadeals
- total cost of booking must exceed £500
- booking must be at least 21 days in advance of holiday
- minimum of seven nights stay

doess not appear to be any restriction on when/where holiday is booked.

this link seems to have more info on Virgin Holidays tie up.

Given how easy it is to rack up tesco club card points 4x face value is a good deal.I would think we have earned around £1000 worth of tesco vouchers in the last year.
I will stick to converting them to BA miles,A little over £450 worth of tesco vouchers is a BA First ticket to US and a pair with an amex 241 voucher.

Anyone know if the 10% FVC/FC discount can still be applied if clubcard vouchers are used in payment/part payment?
Thanks.

Wow, That's a lot of beefburgers and Boddingtons. Do you just live there? :D

The BA miles link from the Tesco site appears not to be up - neither does the Virgin holiday pdf link. What's the BA miles conversion rate?

It was a lot of beefburgers and boil in the bag beef. I am still munching my way through them and this bloody weather is playing havoc with our BBQs.Mrs jag does now live at tesco and with the various 1k extra online codes that are floating about the net the points do mount up without buying anything extra, especially if you get through a case of plonk a week[:0]:D.

Try the Tesco conversion page.Conversion rate is 800 BA miles per £2.50 voucher if you have the now defunct premier Club card or 600 miles per £2.50 for any new account or non prem account.

I just phoned them this morning, and they said that it applies to flights + accom. I could not just book flydrives on their own. Also the 10% for FVC/FF cannot be used with tesco vouchers.

I find that VH are overpriced anyway. I can get the same flydrives for 500 cheaper elsewhere.

Tradwinds appear to accept tesco vouchers for flydrives.

I booked through Funway holidays last time and saved over £500, even with taking their 3 night min hotel.

I phoned VH today and they wanted £2200 (before 10% off) compared to Funways which quoted £1560, inc car (no insurance) and 3 nights accomm.

http://www.funwayholidays.co.uk

I would love to use my tesco vouchers, so if anyone knows better about VH then please let me know.

Before I became a VS miles tart[}:)], I had a Tesco platinum CC card that gave an extra clubcard point per pound spent anywhere so the points used to really rack up.

In the end I had loads of vouchers which at 4x face value were worth about £1200, which I put against a Tradewinds holiday to Florida. Seemed like a good deal at the time, £1200 off the brochure price. BUT......the following year I booked everything independently (car hire, accommodation and flights) and ended up with a better holiday for less money. It's really easy to get 10-15% off brochure price in a variety of ways so I'm not sure the deals are great value.

At the moment I just convert my points to Airmiles and do something almost totally free (except taxes) when there's enough points - paid for Nice last August in the Radisson:D

Regards

Pat

Yes, I got this too - it came in with my vouchers from their loyalty points thingy. I actually wasn't sure if it was new, because I don't always read the booklet that's enclosed [:(]

My experience is that you can't ever assume one single site or route will come up with the best deal - shopping around seems to be the order of the day as things seem to spin on a sixpence (remember those?!) and change even more quickly. When I saw the Virgin link to Tesco's points, my first instinct was to wonder about the true value.

Call me cynical.....[y]

The problem with that is I believe you have to actually fly on a qualifying fare with BA before they let you join the executive club.[B)]

I wouldn't mind joining to sweep up some mileage opportunities not available to Virgin ( Tesco, Nat West etc.) but can't see me flying on a revenue fare in the near future.

Sorry - just realised this is way off topic ( feel free to ignore/delete/move as appropriate )

Hello

Sorry but the FVC/Flying club discount can not be used if you are using Tesco vouchers.

Hi sarac
Think spidey had already mentioned this already in response to my earlier question -any idea how the vouchers will be redeemed though(are they planning to do this electronically or will the paper vouchers need to be submitted)?
Thanks

The T&Cs are up on Tesco's website now, you have to book, pay the deopsit then send the tokens in within 3 days. Also the deals cannot be used for flight upgrades which is a shame, and the holiday has to be for a min of 7 nights
