Sneaking a look at the UCS?

Hi Guys

I am looking forward to my flight on VS005 on 25/6 in PE and am going to ask if i can sneak a look at the UCS while on board, i figure that nothing ventured nothing gained, and i am sure they must be keen to promote it.

I was wondering if any of you have tips for when would be the best time to ask the IFA's, i thought of asking as i boarded and champers was being consumed as its not as distracting, or perhaps half way through the flight if most pax are settled into the movies?

I will let you all know if i was successful or not, but id love a quick peek as i am not due to experience the UCS until NEXT YEAR!! .. and id love a preview!

Thanks :)

I don't know if anytime is better than another but I would pick a quiet period when the FA's are not too busy. I am sure they will show you the suites and if they have a vacant one let you have a sit in it, after all they are very proud of them! [8D]

I was under the impression that VS005 & VS006 on the LHR/MIA route were still fitted with the J2000 seats ?

If your sat upstairs you will be able to look at them the whole flight but you will see them when you board if your sat downstairs

i had a look at them when we had just boarded but still trying to decide if i like them.

I asked to look at the UCS on VS03 last week on PE upstairs and it wasn't a problem at all. Just got chatting to one of the stewardesses at the Galley and mentioned i was interested in seeing it, she happilly obliged. They let me sit in a seat and showed me how it converts to a flat bed - which is very impressive. After being a bit unsure now decided i like the UCS and cant wait to fly it.

I've found the best time is at the end of the flight after all the UC PAX (and other passengers) have left. the crew just mill around for a bit so normally don't mind - on my flight they were proud of it and wanted to show it off.

Obviously they need to turn around the plane quite quickly but you don't need to be in the suite for long to appreciate its luxury.

VS005 is UCS - I flew out on Mustang Sally on 9th May.

I'd ask a few hours into the flight once the intial Freedom menu meal service has been done.

Thanks,
Richard

I have booked Upper Class returns on VS005&006 in September. The outbound is on a 747 and we have seats 3A,C&H upstairs and the return is on an Airbus in seats 3A,C&D.

These all look like J2000 configurations. Perhaps we will be lucky nearer the time.

Thanks for the replies guys

VRN - im sure by September you will get UCS, im sure VS will want to have the majority of the LHR fleet using the suites by then.

I will definately ask if the suites are on my flight and hope i get a look. I am seated upstairs so i think a quick look should be possible, but i will see if i can check out the downstairs ones too, i hear that the flat beds are larger downstairs? (if only by a few inches) Plus i will get to check out what the whole cabin is like, upper deck on the 744 will only have 6 or so seats in it anyway.

Thanks guys - looking forward to this!!

VRN,

Have you phoned recently to check to see if you still have those seats. When I booked my flights it was a J2000 config then, but when I phoned about a montha ago I was told that it had now changed to UCS and we then reselected some appropiate seats.

Thanks,
Richard

I only booked these flights last weekend. I asked the agent if they would be Suites and she said no J2000 seats and yet you have flown this route on suites.

I think I'd better call Virgin again

Thanks

Just called Virgin and they confirmed that the MIA route is suites. I then told them that I had been given seat numbers that suggested J2000 layout. They said that they didnt have up to date seat plans due the booking being so far forward.( September ! )

Do all the UCS planes have V.Port?

(I will enjoy having V.port all the way to Miami)

Thanks Decker, i understand now!

Either Odyssey or V.Port will still be great, although it makes those flights on the Nova systems seem that much more inferior doesnt it?
