Just joined this site - what an exellent reference tool and information exchange - well done to the team!!!!

Unfortunately I only get to fly Virgin when I am going on holiday - so maybe once or twice a year - however it is my airline of choice and we are looking forward to using Virgin for our trips to South Aftica this year, St Lucia and California next year and Orlando in 2006 - and as we want to go back to Australia I am sure the new service there will be used too!!

I wanted to say on the subject of upgrades that I am sure being a Flying Club member helps the process as does booking your seats early!!

Every time on the last 4 occasions coming back from the US or Carribberan my wife and I have been upgraded!! Once from San Francisco we were upgraded from Economy direct to Upper Class - we couldnt believe it!!!

I have written to thank Virgin every time and pass on my comments abotu the excellent service and particulr members of the in flight crew!!

I think we also benefit from having no children, always dressing smart casual and being polite with the ground crew - but I was told by the in flight team on the UC flight that the FC membership helps!!!

:D:D:D:D

Welcome on board!

Sounds like you have done very well with the operational upgrades. I'd certainly agree that FC status helps in this regard - i was op-upped the first time i flew as a Silver. Coincidence? I think not!

I'm also thinking that your praiseworthy letters have led to some sort of permanent SFU (Suitable For Upgrade) being marked on your membership profile. Although, i don't really know enough about how the Flying Club works to know if this is possible :).

Just in case you haven't seen it:

Having an upper tier in the FC program def helps :)

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Mark and welcome, on behalf of the team, I thank you for your comments.

Is is implicit in your post that you are a FC member, even so you appear to have done exceptionally well on the op-upgrade front, well done.

I'm sure all the things you mention have helped you to secure these in the past and good luck for the future.

It is strange how some are luckier than others.

I'm also one of the lucky few that gets upgraded on nearly every flight with VS. No such luck on other carriers (except KLM on a few occasions, but I am a gold elite member with them too!!).

I guess the FC level does mean something, although the point made by onionz about SFU's is a possibility too I guess.

Nice to be here and thank you for the wonderfully warm wlecome!!!!

I am sure that VS know what they are doing because now I actually book to fly in PE - so I guess their marketing works!!!! And I have flown with other airlines in the past and whilst I am sure there are some good ones out there I have remained with Virgin because they have always looked after me!!!!

Just booked my seats for South Africa in November - out to JBurg on a 747- LHR and back from Cape Town on the 340- 400 - the seat plan was an excellent aid when booking the seats and even the VS customer service rep was impressed when I discussed options of where to sit.

I also didnt realise that the VS web site had a "manage your flight" section - 2 minutes after making the reservation our seats were blocked off on the web site - excellent!!!!

I will let you all know the ins and outs of the flight, seat ect when I get back in mid November.
