Unfortunatley I pre-booked seats before discovering this website and the seats I have are rated as poor as the people who posted a comment stated that there was only 1 choice of meal left because the seats get served last.

As this is only one persons experience can any regular fliers advise if this is a one off or a regular occurrence ?

It would seem unlikely that if 3 choices of meals are offered, they would regularly run out.

Had this happen to me in September 2004 on way to Orlando, was almost at the back of the aircraft, however, they had only run out of one meal and still had a choice of two.
Can you not go onto the web site and change your seats or is the flight full?

Unfortunately this happened to us several years ago on the way to Orlando we were left with a choice of two, not sure if we were just unlucky...........if you are concerned I would definately agree with Steve and try to change

OK, thanks I may try and change tonight although there's 6 of us travelling together so the chances at this stage are slim.

I find it surprising and a little disappointing that this happens although I suppose they can't cater for 3 meals per seat.

Or order special meals

If there is something you definitely want because you dont like the other two choices then I would ask the FA or FSM if you can have that selection. This way I am sure they will try to accommodate you - the worst they can say is that they are unable.
I have ordered the ksher meal before and thats usually pretty good - and as Decker said it guarantees your selection. But you will not get sausages!!!

People are saying they ran out of meals a few years ago. Times have changed and the way the company caters it's flights has changed.

I've flown for VS and never on any of my flights did we run of meals, and as a passenger, have never had to go without.

If they do run out, ask how many staff are tucking into dinners because it should be these people going without. The crew are very resourceful and would probably do their best to prepare something else for you.

Think thats a bit harsh and anyway on the flights Ive been on the crew tended to have their own food or used up what was left from UC.

Anyway - as Ive mentioned before - forecasting need tends to avoid people going without!

Staff know part of being on concessionary travel means if meals are short, you're the one going without.

I think the original poster was enquiring about running out of meal choices rather than running out of meals completely.

As the service in Economy starts at the front and back then meets in the middle; it is quite possible that there will be only 2 or even 1 option left at row 48.

Unfortunately trying to predict the meal choices of 400 people is not an exact science.

How many of each meals do you have at the start is it all the same ammount of each?

The 3 choices are loaded in different ratios depending on the route. An example would be 50% chicken, 40% beef and 10% vegetarian.

On every flight we give feedback on how accurate the ratio has been. If a trend is indentified, the ratios will be adjusted accordingly.

The last few family trips we have been travelling with an infant which normally means either my wife or I eating first with the other looking after the youngster - then swapping. It has happened a couple of times that one of the meal choices has run out by the time the second is ready to eat.

VS is normally pretty good - I have been offered food from UC in the past.

VS seem to be one of few airlines that has a choice of 3 meals so normally one of the other two is edible. I flew on Air France a couple of years ago and despite being only about a third of the way back in the rear cabin (747) they were down to a choice on one having started with a choice of 2. This happened on both the outbound and inbound.

How's this for meal planning-in UC on the B350 to Mumbai in May, I ordered the chicken tikka from the Best of British, only to be told by the CSM that only 4 of these are loaded on the Mumbai flight!!! (even though the crew kept filling in the feedback to say it wasn't enough).

After the 1st 3 rows in the 343 had given their order, no tikka was left and I had to go for (v.good) bangers and mash instead. Surely a route to India might attract a reasonable number of Indian food choices (unless reverse psychology i.e. "they won't want a curry, they'll be in India eating nothing else for a while"). (Incidentally, there were two other Indian dishes on the menu, wich are specials created for the Mumbai route, but I didn't fancy either of them.)

So it's not just in Economy that choices get restricted!
