Just heard that the UC Amenity Kit will be replaced with a snooze kit this month. They will contain just the core items - socks, eyeshades, earplugs and the charity envelope. The additional items will be on board for requests.

Souds like an Economy kit[:?]

Look out - here comes the "grandson of GNF" and "son of economy second service" thread. Could we not use the phrase bean counter when discussing this latest VS cut back - as a life long bean counter, I feel insulted by the slagging off of my profession. ;);)

That was not the intention - I just thought you would like to know!

I am sure it was not the intention, and I certainly was not having a pop - sorry it it came over that way. It's important information. It is just that it seems to be yet another VS cut back.......

If they are going to call it a "snooze kit" they better put in a couple Ambien.
For non-USA folks, replace "Ambien" with "temazepam" :) (sleeping tabs..)

I am sure all the crew are looking forward to hand out this glorified Economy amenity kit to their UC passengers. Keep smiling as you hand out yet another "enhanced" service. It will be interesting to hear everyone's opinion on this when they start handing out this new kit.

It is difficult to argue against "wait and see before you decide" declan. And I fully and totally respect your loyalty. However, to be totally honest, (assuming the report is accurate, which I believe it is) I am struggling to see this as a positive move - sorry.

I have never let ignorance be an impediment to my opinion forming in the past. So why should you let it hold you back now! ;);)

Declan, are you able to give any further information about the new kit?

And we thought the current kit was bad...[V][n]
Are VS having big money troubles or something or is it just for more profit??

Why are we getting a Snooze Pack if it is a daytime flight?

OK, the need to snooze on a day flight is proportional to

a) the hour of the morning (*trans: middle of the night)I have needed to get up to get to ORK and a connecting flight to LHR
b) the amount of alochol consumed in the Clubhouse/on board [:I]
c) a combination of a) and b)

but more important to me has been the need for moisturiser and lip balm to counteract the dehydrating effects of the cabin (and b above ;))

Ok, the earplugs are invaluable here in town on a Saturday night and when I was in hospital recently (as was the eyeshade)but I liked having all the other stuff as well.

I note that additional items will be on board for requests but I really don't want to ask the cabin crew for toothpaste and a toothbrush. It's tantamount to asking if my breath smells (and after b above it probably does [:I])

In fact the only benefit I can see is that I won't be getting anymore of those ******* cufflinks!

VS.

How did you guess?

It wasn't so bad when there was a choice but I only got one mirror which broke! Cufflinks are no earthly use to me. Aer John doesn't use them and in any case has his own; there is currently no man in my life since Mr honey lamb shuffled off this mortal coil (applicants, please form an orderly queue) and in any case it is totally sexist of VS to offer them. So there!

So you dont have peirced wrists then?

Well I shall wait till next week to see what is what. The last kit wasnt up to much to be honest, so I imagine the amount of kits left onboard meant that the powers that be assumed that the 'wastage' meant they were not wanted.

I shall be asking for a toothbrush et al, thats all I ever use from the things anyway.

This 'wait and see' attitude?
Either the kits contains the things commented on or they dont - if they do why do we need to wait to comment on. Are they to be handed out with a special 'flourish' and the sound of trumpets that will make the apparent rubbish content seem much better.

Bottomline is bedsox, earplugs and eyeshades are things other airlines give to those down back- not to those thta have just stumped up several thousands of dollars in a fare and then have to 'ping' the inflight service attendants to bring some mouthwash to gargle

I don't think they can be any worse than the ones currently being dished out. Our recent one didn't include cufflinks (which I think I wear only with my dress shirt, as they're not praticle for work) or anything except the socks, eye shade toothbrush and lipbalm!!!

It does sounds rather cheapish. [:#]

The Snooze Pack
Â¥ The Snooze Pack is an envelope containing socks, eyeshades, earplugs & the charity envelope.

Â¥ Night Flights - Place the Snooze pack on the seat prior to boarding.

Additional items

¥ ThereÕs a message printed inside the snooze pack saying ÒFor any other little extras you may need, we carry an additional selection of essentials to make your flight more comfortable. Simply ask a member of your cabin crewÉÓ
