Hi folks,
I noticed that G-VXLG (Ruby Tuesday) went off to Dublin on the 5th June, and as of yesterday, hasn't been reported as back.
Is that just for a regular planned check, or has it gone to be converted to Gatwick 744 config?
Cheers,
Mike

I sure hope it is:D
If it would be a good transfer as then everyone would benefit as LGW would have more chance of oddyssey and LHR more chance of v:port[8D]

Thanks Golfman [y]
I would imagine XLG will get the same config as TOP and AST which were also ex-LHR B744's

On behalf of the ÒLGW poor cousinsÓ UC Society we would like to thank our rich LHR relations for their 747 cast off

. Ruby Tuesday will be the perfect addition to our current collection of Betamax driven IFE aircraft. Many thanks. [ii]

Lol! Ha ha ha!

At least there is more chance of not getting Nova on the LGW flights now that Ruby Tuesday is on her way. [:0]

I think it's just basically just a case of taking out J seats (zone B on the main deck and the ones on the upper deck) and replacing these with extra Y and W seats.
Not sure if the J seats in the nose section are left in or replaced as well (although the IFBT area is taken out and replaced with a mini-bar).
I think it's a pretty big job and it takes around 4 weeks to complete.

They wil have to find old style seats for the extra economy sections. Where will they get them from?

They will no doubt have some left from previous re-fits as dont forget several VS B744's were fitted with the Kash and Wash V:Port seats a couple of years ago.
In any case I dont think it would be difficult to still get new seats from the manufacturers (even though they are an older style seat)
VS could well have a stock of all types of seat they use, just in case they fail during service.

Did a quick comparison between the two configs. In addition to ripping out the unrequired J seats in Zone B and upstairs - it is also necessary to move the 12 PE seats forward into B Zone. I think the bar area gets rebuilt too and there is a larger forward galley?
The PE seats gets renumbered too but I guess that's not a biggie!

Excellent News, that means it may come to Manchester, XLG is the only 747 I have not been on, and I would love to complete the set. Also Ruby Tuesday is one of the newer aircraft in the fleet, I was surprise at the way it panned out with the LHR refits, I would have expected FAB and HOT to be palmed off to LGW/MAN. I guess the IFE that was fitted dictated which ones stayed.

Its kinda strange that Ruby Tuesday that was delivered 4 years after FAB and HOT, has Odessey fitted rather than V-Port [?], however us lowly LGW flyers

mustn't complain with the cast offs from LHR;)

FAB, BIG and HOT all had Arcadia fitted to start with, which was replaced with V:Port during the UCS re-fit program.
