Well I know this has been floating around as somewhere VS were looking at but I have not heard or seen anything internally on this either by news release or on the schedule bulletins?

Is there any footnote " subject to govenrment approval"?

lets hope this is the case as it would be a great destination to add to the network... Does its state LHR or LGW? I would guess it woukd be LGW

All VS holiday routes are MAN or LGW.

Mauritius is one place I've really wanted to go to for a while now. I'm a bit annoyed it's from LGW and not LHR, but at least I could always fly CO on the EWR leg.

If you go to Virgin Holidays and try to make a booking for November 2007 and put in LGW as the departure airport then the flights are definitely there!!

It's no coincidence that the LGW (and MAN) routes are Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Caribbean, Mauritius...While LHR caters for the business traveller more, not to say Miami/Orlando are not "business cities" too, but they are not the same league as NY, LA, Tokyo etc. All the cities they fly to out of LHR are major cities, or capital cities of business.

Virgin announced years ago that LGW would be the family hub and LHR the business hub. Check old news items.

I think Milehigh was just pointing out that its untrue to say that all VS holiday routes are MAN or LGW.

It is true to say that the majority of passengers using the VS MAN/LGW routes are usually going on holiday but you can still book seats via the VS web site if you are travelling for another reason - similarly I have been on VS flights from LHR when I am going on holiday - the MIA flight certainly has a large percentage of holiday makes on it and so do the South Africa flights.

It's interesting how VS puts flights like this on Virgin Holidays before it actually announces them. It happened with the GLA flights as well. Although I'm not complaining...

It would be nice to tell staff also... especially since the senior management held a business briefing for all staff last Thursday. I expect it will be announced on the jamaica launch?

Are the flight numbers not like they are VS372 and VS373 because the new destination is in the Indian Ocean, and Indian flights are VS3**

I got stung with that one when VS started to fly to BGI - or didn't in my case, as I'd booked for BGI on VS but they didnt get their licence in time. V Hols first put us on a BWIA flight then changed it to a BA flight [:0] in the end.

Air Mauritius SuperJet class MRU to CDG was one of the best flights I have ever had on a 747 SP.

Bring it on...

Could have told staff first before announcing it! I'd be a bit miffed.

MIA was from LGW many moons ago (as were the majority of VS' first destinations prior to LHR slots) but MIA switched to LHR a while back around 2000 I believe....thus making MIA a business centre.

It is true that LGW does tend to cater for the more b+s orientated routes. But there are clear exceptions to the rule- PHC was clearly a business route but was flown from LGW-
