I have booked 4 mpm economy flights leaving in 2 weeks from LGW-BGI and at the moment the flight looks pretty open :
J6 D6 Z5 W7 S7 K7 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X2 N1
I know that you are not supposed to be able to upgrade mpm ECO fares to PE using miles but given that the flight looks quiet, is it worth asking if I can use miles to upgrade at check-in? Have I got no hope at all and therefore not worth bothering the check-in staff or is it worth a shot?
Thanks

It is always worth asking, you never know they may say yes.

Never had any luck upgrading the wrong fare type and I always ask. Some flights have been light on load as well.

Don't mean to hijack this post GreboDB, but in my increasingly fruitless search to find out the going rate for a Z fare to BGI - and noticing a profusion of Z's for your upcoming flight - I've just checked the price on VS website. Going out on 11/07 and back on 25/07 (lots of Z's for both according to ExpertFlyer) is coming up at over £3K. What's going on??

I wonder if the VS site is not showing the real lowest possible fare for some reason.
For the dates you mention the MPM UC fare is £1,491.40. Standard booking prices show UC Lowest as £3,151.40 and UC Flexible as £3,439.40. Seems to be a huge difference between the MPM and standard lowest fare but not such a big difference between the lowest and full flexible which is unusual...

I think you're probably right, GreboDB. I've been trying to get a Z fare for this route for a few weeks now, using all sorts of different dates. No matter what ExpertFlyer tells me with regard to Z availability, all I seem to get is the same fare of £3151.40. Most frustrating...

Z fares usually have a sizable advance purchase period. Travel out on the 11th July is not far enough our, so the system is probably defaulting to the 'D' fare.
MPM must be requested as such when signed into your account, or it will not fare for you.
Hope that helps!
