W and Y class is going to get a new colour refresh.

We are getting new red and mink seat covers in Economy and the seat in W that are not the new Super seat will all be red. We will have aubergine curtains in Economy and Premium Economy There will also be an aubergine carpet laid throughout the whole A/C

A New Blanket which will be a Poncho style.

An A340 will have all the new colour in July and the rest of the fleet will be completed by DEC 07

I think this all sounds really nice. I am looking forward to seeing it.

I think they should spend the money on completing the V-Port upgrade to the L.G.W/M.A.N fleet. They cut back on all the luxuries and waste money on seat refurbishment after seat refurbishment even on their new aircraft. I think the V-S interior design team should all be sacked. It surely is not normal to have so many different cabin styles and seat refits in such a young fleet. And leave the L.G.W/M.A.N fleet with poor quality in-flight entertainment.

Spending more time in the beginning will save a lot of time and money in the end.[^][^]

Jersey boy Its a shame to hear you feel so strong on the Entertainment, however The Customer surveys show that the cabin ENVIRONMENT is at the top of customers satisfaction.

While Maybe Nova and Oddysea are not as good as V-Port they are better than most airlines .

The expense of fitting new covers is nowhere near the same as fitting a new entertainment system... With a new sysem you have to complete the whole seat not just covers, no to mention cables, wires and servers at the seats? the current seats would not have space to house the V-port servers.

At least the refresh will make the cabins feel nice.

I understand your point and I am aware about the seat issue and fitting V-Port but I also understand that new seats in w and y are being introduced as the current new seats of which I have experienced are very uncomfortable and not as user friendly as one would wish. I understand that there will be 4 types of economy seat 3 types of premium and one upper class seat offered on the fleet. All those new a340 -600's and the refitted v-port 747's having cover changes and seat changes again itÕs a total waist of money in my eyes. the customers like consistence in any brand product and I agree virgin got it totally wrong with the w and y seats currently fitted to the v-port fleet so on these aircraft the cabin environment would be the number one priority. On the comfy seats excluding the downstairs premium seats of the L.G.W/M.A.N fleet the main priority is V-Port.

Spending more time in the beginning saves time and money in the end.

Aubergine is a deep purple-red colour, usually. Mink is a warm brown.... although the colours on my monitor may need adjusting....

Aubergine is the purplish colour currently used on the upper class seat. mink is a creamy beigh type colour with a slight hint of pink[:$][:0][n]

Mink and aubergine are the same colours that are being used in the upper class suite. The leather seats are aubergine and the light brown/biege/grey coloured sides of the suite are mink. Along with the red I think it's a beautiful conbination.

Mink -yeuk-reminds me of that vile colour that Ford used on the cortina and escort range in the mid to late 70s.The upholstery will look disgusting after a few weeks (a bit like the yellow seats do now).

I wonder what headres covers they are going to have. If it's the same one as they have now, it's going to look SO wrong in that cabin. But I love the colours. Can't wait to see what it will look like in the Y cabin.

I think it'll look good as long as it stays in good condition - we'll have to wait and see: I will try and abstain from passing judgement until later[8D] [:I]

Can someone please clarify what is actually happening to the seats.

Are all aircraft going to get the new Y and W seats or is it just the A340-600. Or are some of the aircraft going to keep the seats they currently have but are just going to get new covers?

This is a good question! Every time a new seat or some change has been reviled it often says it will be rolled out across the fleet or words to that effect. But thatÕs what hey said about V-Port in the beginning. I hope that all aircraft get the same seats the same color scheme and the same A.V.O.D but to look at the fleet at the moment this does not appear to be happening. All the changes to B-A are fleet wide changes to keep a consistent product.

Cheers Wayne

Maybe if they roll the new seats out across the entire fleet, then all aircraft might get upgraded to V-Port.

AFAIK, changing the IFE is a bigger job than replacing the seats[:?]

Economy Cabin Colour Refresh

To complement the new Economy seat and the new Premium Economy Super Seat, a new colour scheme will start adorning our cabins this summer.

The cabin environment is the second highest loyalty driver to our Economy passengers so is extremely important to us that we provide them with a great product. Coupled with the fact that our current colour scheme has been on-board our aircraft since 1999 we believed it was time for a refresh.

The new colours will not only improve the atmosphere but they will bring our cabin interiors right up to date. The refresh will include new red and mink seat covers in Economy whilst those Premium Economy cabins that do not yet have the Super Seat will see all their seats becoming red. New aubergine curtains will be featuring in Economy and Premium Economy and aubergine carpet will be laid throughout our three cabins.

The aubergine and mink colours have been selected to echo the successful dŽcor in our UCS cabin whilst a more regular positioning of the different seat cover colours will bring with it a more calming feel.

A New Blanket

In addition to this, a new blanket will be introduced in Premium Economy and Economy. The innovative design is based on the poncho concept and has an open V feature, which will enable passengers to comfortably secure the top portion around their neck and shoulders, preventing the blanket from falling down whilst seated. The new blanket is constructed in a warm, tightly woven tweed acrylic, which offers a soft, comforting feel to the skin yet also has a good wear resistance.

The blanket will be launched in twocolourversions of Red and Aubergine, with a contrasting minkcolourededge, with the Aubergine one being used by all our Premium Economy passengers. On aircraft featuring the newcoloursrefresh there will be a mixture of both Red and Aubergine blankets available in Economy, however, on those aircraft flying in the current colour scheme only the Red blanket will be used in Economy.

All these changes will gradually be introduced across the fleet to reduce any requirement to write off valuable current stock and therefore you may temporarily see a mixture of the current and the new colour schemes on certain aircraft.

In July, an A340-600 will be the first aircraft to model some of the new colours and our entire fleet is due for completion by the end of December 2007.

So does this mean in December 2007 all aircraft in the fleet will have all the new seats and new colours in place? or will they have a miss match of seats in the new colours?
