The reason I ask is there was not one on VS201 from sydney on 27 June as the person was sick and one could be flown from London in time.

Don't know the answer to that, but when I was last in the Heathrow Club House I was told that it alone had 200 staff! That doesn't come cheap.

Hi, unlike our Cabin Crew, all of the IFBT`s are based at LHR. Therefore if the IFBT had taken ill in SYD on the day of departure of the VS201 or even a couple of days before on the way down to SYD, then it would be impossible to fly one out from the UK, allow them rest time in HKG or SYD and then operate this flight back. The HKG/SYD leg is the hardest to re crew if their is an illness downroute, just purely because of the distance and rest times required before operating a flight back. Hope this helps.

Cheers
