Hi, I'm new and haven't travelled on Virgin for 15 years. I'm flying UC to London from Washington in December and am curious about this so-called "Snooze Zone". How do you know if you've placed yourself in this zone by choosing a designated seat? When I was online to Virgin, the helpful young lady suggested seating but never mentioned if we were to be in that zone. Would she have done this as a matter of course or am I to enquire? Are there permanent seats on the plane always allocated to this? We're flying on a 340-600,version 2, according to the young lady. I looked this up and am puzzled about it. Anything you can do to help with this is greatly appreciated.

On snooze-zone operated flights, it's the front half of an airbus or the upstairs area of a 744. You might find the seat maps here useful

744 = Rows 1 - 5
A340 = Rows 1 - 7 (I *think*) - or maybe 8?


For reference, this zone is an area of the aircraft effectively dedicated to sleeping. Straight after take-off, the lights are off, and beds converted. No meal service is provided at your seat - all food is offered at the bar for anyone who wants something to eat in those sections. Breakfast, however, is served before landing.

Thanks for the "welcome". After I made this thread, I did some searching and found answers already posted, so sorry to bring it up again. One other question, we're flying back on a day flight but are up front in seats 2/3a. Is this still a snooze zone even on a flight during the day? If so, we need to get new seats! I'm thinking this flight doesn't have a snooze zone. Do you know or how I can find out?

Nope - the snooze zone only operates on certain flights, and overnight. I'll see if I can find out the listing...

If you try to select seats online at the VS website, non-snooze seats can be selected and usually the snooze seats are blocked to avoid people selecting them by mistake; if you call reservations they'll be happy to unblock a seat in Snooze.

I have flown Westbound from LHR on a daytime flight (VS7) and the curtains were pulled back, lights were on, shades were up and service was being offered. My most recent trip was on a Sunday morning and a number of people had their duvets pulled over them or their beds made up, reading the Sunday papers and sipping tea, which I found a relaxing atmosphere (but that's just me!).

Get this, I telephoned Virgin and asked if the "day flight" home, VS021, had any UC seats designated as "snooze zone". Well, the agent didn't even know what that was? I said I was aware there was a snooze zone on the VS022, but knew I was not seated in that zone for that flight, but was wondering about the other flight. She drew a complete blank, so I told her what it was. Kinda weird, huh?[:0]

To be honest, I'm not surprised she drew a blank - the VS21 does not have a snooze zone. While it's an East-Coast flight, it's not an overnight one, so the service is not offered. The VS22 on the other hand, will.

Could be but the day I was on it there were no drawn curtains or lights off. I was in 3K which puts it in the typical snooze zone on the 346, correct?

I'm confused - you said that the snooze zone wasn't available on the VS7, but that was my point - the VS7 doesn't operate the snooze zone service. It's a daytime flight, west coast. [?]

If it were on another route, 3K on a 346 would definitely be in the snooze zone, but that flight doesn't operate with the snooze service (from memory)...

Hi, Actually, the agent and I reviewed my entire flight itinerary and also checked the seats on VS022 and she didn't register on the snooze zone with that flight either. While this isn't such a big deal to me really, I just think it must be hard to do your job if you don't know about these things. How can you lock in seating for a passenger if you can't inform them of these things? I actually DID have to explain to her what this so-called "snooze zone" phrase was all about! I've done my own checking and it appears my seats are "safe" from the snooze zone on VS022! We have 8/9a! I'm actually thinking the 8a seat will be super because I read the curtain separating "snooze zone" and the rest of UC starts right there. Might give us a little more feeling of privacy.

Only the following flights have snooze zone due to the short flight times.

Most customers will eat in the lounge, board, go to bed, visit revivals in LHR or go straight on with there journeys.

I think most of the staff will draw a blank as it's not really mentioned by anyone - staff and pax alike. Maybe it was mentioned in my training many moons ago but no passenger has ever asked me to be seated there.

And from my experience in J i think the whole thing is a myth anyway! Snooze my arse! Not when there's other pax going about the usual noisey business!

Well, OK. Cool. Thanks for all the input, kids. I can rest assured I'm not in the "snooze zone" if it exists or if it doesn't!! I just know there's no way I can fall asleep quickly on a plane. When I get on, I'm excited...even after all the flights over the years. I'm especially excited when I'm in a new cabin and am riding up front, so I'm going to enjoy all the toys, food, and bevs!!

I presume you have never flown IAD-LHR: meal in the Dulles Clubhouse, quick drink on board and then lights off in the snooze zone about an hour before the rest of the cabin. And very quiet, particularly mid-week.

VS telephone reservations know about snooze zone as they always ask if you want to be in or out of it when booking the relevant flights.
