It is free, but if you feel like leaving a tip/gratuity for exceptional service then you can.
Thanks,
Richard

All UC pax other than opups can take a guest into the lounge so yes, you are free to rub her face in it. I'm sure she'll appreciate it

If you have a nice word with the Flight Services Manager (white blouse for a girl, grey shirt for a boy) and ask if your wife could join you at your seat or the bar if its quiet my experience is that they can be quite accomodating.
Just don't do what someone on our last flight did, assume its ok to bring up a friend from Premium (in this case) to the bar - said friend was asked to leave. My brother (Econ) and parents (Premium) were free to stay as long as they like as we'd asked and been friendly. Don't expect this though if they are busy.

Oops! [:I]
I was clearly getting them confused with the IFBT. Such an easy mistake to make.

Really, please tell me. How does this work? [}:)]
I blew 100,000 miles on getting my wife an upperclass ticket to accompany me on my company supplied one. I just couldn't bring myself to tell her she was sitting down the back!
Though as it happens UC was only 1/3 full, and were were the only people to sit at the bar for the entire flight, so I'm sure if I asked nicely she could have joined me if I'd had the nerve to book her in Y.

VS crew realize that many times families or friends are split among the three cabins and occasionally -- emphasis intended here --will, for example, permit a guest to join the UC pax for a drink at the bar, circumstances permitting and the UC pax having not expected to be accommodated.
How does this work? I suspect that the kind of pax who would be granted his wish is one who has treated the FA with respect, who hasn't been demanding or loud, and who is deemed to fully appreciate that the flight crew and not the pax will make the decision.

Ahh yes Chuck, it is amazing what just treating other humans with general R-E-S-P-E-C-T (ok bad attempt at a song tie-in) can lead to. I try to address everyone my there first name, if my mind does not fail me.
