All,

I am looking at flying LHR - MAN for a weekend in October. As a VS Au holder is there any way that I can gain access to the lounge at LHR and MAN? The VS site says international only, however I seem to remember reading that some airline (perhaps BMI) do a 'match your level of other airlines' scheme where I could get a BMI Au card and use that. Or is my memory failing me?

Cheers,

Ongen

You're talking about a status match, where BMI would give you a gold card based on your VS status.

On the day, however, that would be irrelevant. VS Golds don't have access to the lounge when flying internally. Given the level of restriction BMI are placing on their own cardholders these days, I'd say you'd be lucky to convince them to let you in.

Yes that is what I was thinking of. Do you have any information as to how I can make use of that.

Are BMI treating their cardholders badly (I haven't heard anything, although I haven't paid much attention as it has only now become a potential issue). It seems that being an Au holder should get you into the lounge surely!

I assume you're not a Platinum Amex holder then? (That would get you in BMI lounges on domestic travel...)

Alas no. Only a Gold Amex Corporate Card holder (and of course soon to be VS MBNA Black Amex) - unless that does the trick too.

No, you'd need to get the Plat (for a £300 annual fee.)
