Are VS crew getting larger?

I flew from Gatwick yesterday and 1 of the hostesses was as large as I have seen a Virgin girl.

Have we been spoilt over the years?

What's the 'big' deal? As long as they can fit down the aisle that should be enough. The only eye candy I am interested in is a good movie on the AVOD system.

Anyway, the pilot can add more trim to the elevator or aileron control surfaces if necessary as they move around the cabin. I guess though that they would have to inform them if they were going to change position from EC to UC, lol. [:p]

As long as crew are qualified to fly then i dont mind what vs crew look like.

I am sure that, no matter what size they were, they were still lighter than me and far better qualified in the event of an emergency.

adding a serious note to this tho..

talking about large cabin crew, started me thinking about large passengers and whether they should pay for an extra seat that some airlines stipulate.

I think that sucks... for example, they dont charge tall passengers any more and they can get priority re leg room .. also what about passengers with babies getting the extra room at bulkheads??


just wondered what anyone else thinks

Given all the beef on fuel surcharges and "rationalisation" of luggage allowances I'd be happy to see an "all inclusive" weight allowance. Like normal allowance of say 125kg for Y and W and 175kg for J. That way small slim people can carry more luggage :) and everyone would know people were being treated identically.

Yeah but a 'larger' passenger is going to have more square inches of clothes and therefore heavier luggage so they would be hit twice as bad!!

I think that is fair enough for two reasons.

1) Infants under 2 are charged 10% of adult fair even though they don't get their own seat.

2) If I want to reduce my chances of being next to a screaming baby when travelling in Y I know that I should book a seat well away from the bulkhead.

not sure about larger - but they are definitely getting younger - or is it me just getting older... [:w]

anyhow - i would not like to be you on your next vs flight, as i am sure all of the crew will have their own views on your post... [B)]

So youÕr the ugly one that was on our Miami flight last years then?

Sorry I only joke.

I actually feel comfortable with confident cabin crew age, size, gender, looks and race are all un-important Its the flight crews skill thatÕs much more important than anything else. I will say though that the glam crew worry me I am sure if there was an emergency they would worry more about chipping their nails than getting the emergency door open and the slide deployed

That's because height is genetic, and there's nothing tall people, like myself, can do about it.

I think it all boils down to experience and ability. I'd prefer a mixed cabin crew of whatever description if it meant descent service.
