Anyone know how soon after booking a Virgin Holiday PE it is possible to contact Virgin Atlantic to book seats?

If you book your V Hols package less than 11 months before you travel, then you can view you VS seat maps more or less straight away. Just enter your V Hols booking ref into the 'view my booking' section on the VS web site (use the full booking ref including anything after the / sign of your V Hols booking ref).
Sometimes this doesn't always work so you will need to get V Hols to give you the VS PNR for your booking (this is a seperate booking reference V Hols use just for your VS flights)
If you book greater than 11 months in advance, your flight booking with VS is not actually booked or sent to VS until 11 months before you travel (although dont panic as your seats are still reserved though), therfore, you wont be able to view your VS seat maps more than 11 months in advance.

Basically its as Mitcthja says, VH normally do a transfer from there system over to the VS system once every 24hrs with all the bookings/updates etc (but not Sunday's, but ISTBC), so you just might need to be a bit patient whilst it is moved over, best thing to do is to keep checking the VS site.

The w06 is part of the VH booking ref - the whole booking ref should be something like 12345/w06 (the w06 means Winter 2006), the important part is the 5 digit number before this, it should be on your info from VH and that will then allow you to use the "manage my flights" section on the VS website
