Were the 747-200s that went to Transaero sold or leased? If they were leased, does that mean they'll be back in service with VS at some point?[:?]

Or here in the FAQ that covers all of the aircraft, both current and retired.

The three ex-VS 742's that Transaero have were bought from VS, not leased, and are therefore not likely to be coming back ;).

I don't think that VS would be in the business of leasing out their older aeroplanes. Leasing is a complex and expensive business usually done by finance companies specifically off their own bat or in conjunction with manufacturers. If the aeroplanes were bought outright by VS they'll most likely have been sold outright either to another carrier or a leasing company; if the aeroplanes were leased by VS then the leasing company will have taken the aeroplanes back and then re-leased them to another carrier.
