Hope this doesn't breach any copywrite - Ive just received this:

On Thursday 10th August, Government agencies in both the US and the UK imposed additional security measures, applicable at all UK airports and all for flights departing from the US to the UK.

Today, the overall UK alert level has been reduced, directly influencing what you can carry through UK airports. However, these changes will take effect gradually over the next 24 hours.

If you are travelling from the UK from tomorrow onwards (Tuesday 15 August) you will be permitted to carry one item of hand luggage. The dimensions of this item must not exceed: a maximum length of 45 cm, width of 35 cm and depth of 16 cm (17.7"×13.7"×6.2" approx) (including wheels, handles, side pockets etc.). Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage. All products containing any gel or liquid substance remain prohibited.

It is important that you refer to http://www.virginatlantic.com for a comprehensive list of all the specific restrictions and requirements as these vary by destination.

Please also be advised of the following:

FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS
Virgin Atlantic and other airlines have been instructed to cancel a proportion of their services departing from London Heathrow. Please check our website at http://www.virginatlantic.com for the very latest updates.

DELAYS AND CHECK IN OPTIONS
Due to heightened security, some long delays are still expected, for which we apologise. Please arrive at the airport, at least 3 hours ahead of the scheduled departure time shown on your ticket or e-ticket. Please use Online Check In at http://www.virginatlantic.com or use airport kiosks where installed. Airport Check In desks will open approximately 4 hours before departure. Check In will close promptly, 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time of each flight.

If you are booked to depart on flights from London Gatwick, we suggest you use our Twilight Check In service, which will be open at Zone A, South Terminal, until 21:00 the evening before your flight.

Virgin Atlantic apologises for any inconvenience caused but trust that you will understand our need to comply with these imposed measures. We would like to thank all of our passengers for their patience, understanding and positive attitude throughout this difficult situation. Our airport teams are very appreciative of the support and co-operation they have been given.

Full and comprehensive information is available on our website at http://www.virginatlantic.com and we would recommend that you review this information carefully before you travel.

Kind regards,

The Flying Club Communication team
