Final post in SFO trip saga!

Anyone that has read my past few posts will know that I am cancelling my SFO trip on Tuesday. This was an X class booking and as Juliet pointed out by cancelling I could get refunds on taxes [y]

So I called the FC today and asked them to do this. They suggested that I rather take the dates off the booking [:?]

So despite having 4 X class tickets, I have been able to remove the dates and up until 21st Feb I can put dates back on them (up to a year from original flying dates) with the following conditions:

1. Upgrade to Q,M class
2. Pay £30 per PAX

Now this may be a few pounds but certainly cheaper than cancelling all together :)

Finally, I was told if by Feb 21st I cancel the trip then I can still get a refund on the taxes anyway.

I thought this was great advice, and good service by the FC. I can't really lose.

Thought this may be interesting to anyone in the same boat.....

Excellent news that they allow you to "bank" the tickets. It seems like a win-win for both parties - VS have your money (in the bank, or spent already!), they will get a little more revenue when you finally rebook, and you don't lose out on what you've already spent.

I know that someone was really impressed when one of the US airlines let them do this with a "completely non-changeable, non-refundable" ticket too - they allowed them to "bank" it for a year.

It's always worth asking if you can do this with a ticket, rather than have to throw it all away.

Cheers,
Mike

Good news[y], something similar happened to me with a VH booked a couple of years ago, for reasons I won't bore you with, we couldn't go on the booked hol, so VH kept the booking open and we just had to re-choose some new dates to departure on as long as it was upto a max of 1 year from our original departure date, cost us £30 to make a change to the booking. We ended up having the best hol we have had on the re-booked one!

Slimey

This is excellent news and to my mind shows why most of us appreciate VS[^][^]

Amenity packs may be a problem, but it is the staff of VS and the way they put themselves out on so many occasions that keeps Mrs Buns & I coming back for more.[y][y]
