South Africa and somewhere else

Hi all,
I'm after some advice...
I'm looking at destinations for Honeymoon and at the moment we are thinking about South Africa (Cape Town & Safari) and then moving on to somewhere else outside of South Africa for a beach resort/relaxing time. We originally thought of Mauritius, but we will be going after the wedding at the start of March and weather is not so great there.
So, that makes us then think of Zanzibar or the Maldives. These are also both served by VH, but there are no VS flights between the locations.
To throw another item into the equation I wanted to use miles to upgrade our flights (where possible) to Upper Class. Again a problem as VS only goto Cape Town.
I spoke to VH who said that they cannot do flights to anywhere from Cape Town apart from to LHR or Mauritius.
So, does anyone know of a sensible way to get from Cape Town to Male for example via a partner airline? Would I be best to speak to VS re flights and then VH re accomodation? or would anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks,
G.
