Was just looking at LHR-LGW movements page and on the 10th Sept it shows the G-VFAB did LHR-LGW (21.27 arrival time) with flight ref VS808P, what is this? and where does the flight number come from?

The 'P' at the end of any flight number stands for positioning. No pax just a flight deck crew to move the A/C. G-VFAB must have been needed at LGW the following day, therefore VS 'positioned' the aircraft to LGW from LHR.
You see quite a few positioning flights between MAN and LGW at the moment as well.

Thanks James, interesting to know about the "p" also, seen a few flight numbers with a P after then and it has always puzzled me. Just out of interest, why the VS808 though? Just a random flight number because it needs one (guess Im way off but you never know!)
Thanks,
Neil

There are lots of (boring) rules about issuing flight numbers for scheduled flights - I assume the rules extend to positioning flights too.
