Hello all,
I am booked to go LAX to LHR on VS8/7 (747-Suite/LHR)and had to book a seat in row 77 for the return flight.
I see the layout is 2 seats SERVICE AREA 2 seats.
What exactly is that service area? Is it a galley? Is the noise bad from it?
I tried to get on the top deck but no more seats [:(!]

Hi cowpie,
Yes the service area is the Galley. I have not sat on the main deck but would imagin it would be at its noisiest pprior to the meal services ( lunch and afternoon tea on LHR-LAX).
I do not think that all the PE upper deck seats would be taken as only a certain number are pre allocated( and from your comments that limit has been reached) so I might suggest that you check in early to have a betteer chance of Upper deck seats ( maybe even row 70 the exit row)

Thanks for the info, how early should we plan on checking in? The lady on the phone said 2 hrs, but should I push it to 3 or 3.5?(I would rather spend a extra hr in the airport than 10 hrs sleepless inflight)

Hi,
The earlier the better if you want to get the Upper deck seats ( I think LHR check in opens 4 hours prior to departure)

I have sat on the main deck in PE a couple of times if you get the front 2 seats the crew move you to the UC bar as PAX are boarding directly infront of these seats so you get a few glasses and a good look around UC cabin. There didnt seem to be that much extra noise and its easy to catch FA attention right next to the galley for addition drinkies so not to bad but upstairs is better.
