I was hoping someone here may be able to help me out, as VS and Delta seem not to be bothered.
My Pal who travelled with me in Jan LHR to CPT in PE tried registering with VS for FC, and couldn't through the website as he was in Ireland. He gave in eventually and put his Delta SkyMiles card number in his reservation.
Reading the small print after finding no extra points on his Delta account, he found out that flights to SA weren't eligible for miles with Delta.
He then called and registered on the phone with VS and tried to retrieve his miles with them, only to be told they had been claimed through Delta and they could do nothing, and he was best off contacting Delta. Delta had the same story, it was VS's problem.
Has anyone had similar experiences to this and more importantly, any suggestions how my friend resolves this, as there are over 18k miles at stake here!
