Forgotten miles

My two younger sons flew to BGI with us in UC in July 04. Since then they have only flown once on M+M tickets and of course their miles will be no good after July 07.

I can't believe that I had forgotten that they had the miles and have twice used miles from my account for M+M fares for them and some friends.

They may fly again before next July, but if they don't is the best way to order some Virgin wines to keep the accounts active, and because one of them is under 18 can this be done?

HI Jilly

You have to be 18 to buy wine from Virgin Wines, so that wouldnt work for the younger.

What about gifting them some miles? That will bump activity into their accounts for a few more years?

This is a tricky one with minors as they'll be exempt from a lot of the car hire and hotel stay opportunities. Do they drive? You can collect a mile for each pound spent with Texaco with the we.o.u card - you can only transfer the points in multiples of 1000 (thats a lot of fuel) but its still miles for nowt. That might trickle a few miles their way?

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah, thought that might be the case with the wines. I'll order some in the older one's name to activate his account.

They both drive (my 17 year old passed last week on his first attempt) but they don't use much fuel really unless I'm buying it of course.

For the younger one it looks like spending £30 on a gift of miles could be the best option, although he has plans to fly to JNB in February of next year with his 21 year old girlfriend! Will wait and see if that happens first.
