Upper Class / New To This
Posted: 14 Sep 2006, 16:44Forgive my ignorance but could someone walk me through what happens when you arrive at LHR & check in. Do you then make your own way to the lounge or are you taken there by a Virgin rep ?

If you have a J or D ticket, you will be taken to check-in by the car they provide, and checked in curbside. From there, you must make your way to the lounge yourself.

And you will/can use the Fast track channel through security. Whether its actually faster is in the eye of the traveller.

Yes Betsey, you will get access to the lounge, all UC tickets quality for lounge access (only up-op's dont get this)

Posted: 14 Sep 2006, 22:36If you check-in the traditional way, that is with no online, car etc., you go to the upper class check-in desks at the extreme right of the check-in area A as you face it. During check-in they should give the invite to the CH.
You then make your way up the escalator opposite the check-in desks to the departure level. Turn 180 degrees when you rech the first floor and walk along until you reach world news (I think), go right here - it's obvious;) You then walk past main security and continue to fast-track which is on the left as well. Hand over your boarding passes (and passport?) here and then queue - hopefully not too long;).
Once through security you need to go left and then right again for passport control - this shouldn't take too long however.
After passport control, you can browse in the duty-free area which is rather large but if you don't want to do this you can head straight to the CH. Follow the wooden walkway round to the right. You will then come to an ascending ramp on the left just after Paul Smith;) Go up this and turn right. Follow the corridor and soon on your left will be several airline lounges. Go up the stairs and you will be met by a VS person who will ckeck your boarding passes. If you need any assistance ask at reception in the CH for finding your gate etc.

The VS check-in is section A at the left as you face the terminal. Enter the terminal as close to the left as you can. You will have to walk along a bit and then turn left. Posted: 14 Sep 2006, 23:57For those flying Upper Class for the first time ... and it is a real treat! I always suggest leave plenty of time to enjoy the Clubhouse and Duty Free shopping if you want ... on our trip to Sydney we probably had nearly five hours!
There is a lot to experience before you get to the plane, dedicated check-in line - this in itself was (and still is) a buzz for me. The walk to the CH, the greeting by reception. Feel free to ask for a tour, the staff will gladly show you where everything is - left luggage, bar, library, huge TV screen, bistro, dinning, bar, games area, roof garden, the Cow Shed spa area. In addition to the treatments you can use the showers (which double as private steam rooms), the sauna, the jacuzzi tub. You don't have to have an appointment to use any of these facilities.
The bar will make you any drink or cocktail you might fancy, the restaurant has an excellent menu but again will do its best to cater to your tastes / requirements.
And yes, all of this is complimentary - if your in the CH you don't need to pay for it (with the exception of Cowshed products in the Spa).
