Flying to Vegas tomorrow (leaving this afternoon) and were planning on taking one of those small squeezy cushions with us for neck support etc as they are v.comfy.
They wont however go in our hand luggage without taking the whole bag up so I just wondered do they let you carry these thru security with you, as you could easily buy them airside anyway and take them on?
Thx

How about taking one of those blow-up neck suppports which would be much easier to take in your hand luggage. I'm sure you could find them in any good pharmacy or supermarket.

If the BAA dragons are in "enforcement mode" (which they are permanently right now) - there's a simple answer : no.
If it can't fit in your one carry-on, it won't be allowed.

Thanks, expected as much. Won't let you carry a small cushion thru the security scanner but you could buy the same thing 20 ft past the scanner from a shop!
Oh well...

There are lots of things you can purchase airside that you are not allowed to take through security..... the reason is that you have bought it from home and therfore its origin and content is unknown.
Whilst these new rules are very inconvenient to us all ... they are there to protect us from people who would like to blow us all out of the sky !!!

I did see passengers with those squeezy cushions in the departure lounge at LGW last weekend. No idea if they bought airside or carried them through security though.

I got mine through security last week by buying a vacuum seal bag and then took all the air out of it before it went in my hand luggage. It packed down quite well and I had no problems at all on either my outbound or return flights.
Have a safe comfortable trip.
