Good news on the relaxation ... bad news that it is still restricted to liquids purchased at the airport.

Thanks,
Sarah

Business. :) BAA need to earn some money back, or they'll hike UB again.

Thanks,
Richard

You can at least take small packs (max 3oz) of things like hand cream and lip gloss. I am not sure if such things as TNT toothpaste, Nitro-glycerine mouth wash and semtex-based shaving gel will be allowed though - hopefully this will become clearer.

So we are getting back to normal travel bit by bit, soon it will be back to pre the terror threats and all this 'extra' precaution will be long forgotten and made to look pointless (I am not saying they are pointless, just making the point that when the rules are relaxed it will just make a farse of the current rules)

Well, well. I'll make an anarchist out of you yet (despite your prejudice against anyone over 30).

Keep trying Jeremy, maybe one day, you actually have mistaken the intention of my comment, I actually agree with the restrictions (not all but most) just think the way our stupid government will no doubt relax the rules is contradictory and makes the current restrictions pointless.

Quick Question - Now that the US is permitting 3oz of shampoo, 3oz of conditioner, 3oz of shaving cream, etc. through security screening, does that mean I can board a VS flight (say SFO to LHR) with said items. I have a short trip to the UK in mid-October and would love to avoid checking my small carry-on. As for the return, LHR-JFK, would the same be true or should I blow the full compliment of gels/liquids in the UK prior to my return?

As I understand it, what you can take depends on the rules of the airport/country in question. So if you are boarding SFO to LHR, the answer is yes. If it is LHR to SFO then you would need to go by the LHR/UK rules (ie carry-on allowed up to the old sizes and 'solid-liquids' such as lipstick etc).

If you want to 'blow' your hair conditioner, be my guest. But don't ask me to join in :)

Have just spoken to BAa who state that flights from the UK to USA are as was - i.e. no liquids allowed :-(

Indeed. The ban on liquids and gels still remains on US flights. Sorry I should have said that.
