Tried it on and failed

I had been looking to book a reward flight using my VS miles on SQ321, but the flight is jam packed and there was no availability, so I chose to buy a Y ticket. Whilst in SIN for a couple of days before going to NRT I thought I might do a first return to KUL with SQ at which point I will hit gold.

Whilst checking in at LHR I asked to receive my boarding pass for the SIN-KUL flight. Whilst walking past the Fast Track security I thought, why not see if I could sneak through with my Brown First boarding pass rather than the green econ one. Walked up and flashed the pass and was just about to get away with it when the supervisor asked to see the pass more closely and asked for my LHR departing ticket. Needless to say, I was sent packing, lol.

In any case there was no queue for the standard security and I was through without delay. I have to blame you guys for this because since joining this site I have not travelled solo in econ. I am sitting in the Servisair lounge wondering about my flight and how packed it will be. Shame I didn't book the flights earlier as I had enough for a First return.

Anyone else ever managed to sneak through Fast Track security 'illegally'?

Err, but why?[?]

You know you can't use it, so why even try. If there is one thing that annoys me it is the people that try it on at airports trying to use Upper or Premium check-in when they are not entitled, and likewise there is always the person trying it on at Fast Track. Flip the situation round, imagine if you were the person waiting to go through FastTrack but was held up whilst someone who wasn't entitled to use the facility tried it on, and in the process wasted everyone's time?

Thanks,
Richard

as goldie member - we get fast track vouchers normally, but never need to use them really (always get to airport super early - well we like some food and a drinkie or two) - so no line normally.

anyway, one time only when BAA didnt supply virgin with any (some problem with their supplier or something) - we had to line up for 45 mins!!! really annoyed then - only happened that once..

Got to agree with Richard, what gets me is that there was no queue at the normal security line, so your "trying it on" probably made your trip through security longer, thus defeating the object you were trying to achieve[?]

Nice try NEUS, albeit a little unsubtle [y]

If you are not phased by being turned away, good for you. I cannot see that you did anyone any harm, and it is reassuring to know that the staff were clued up and switched on enough to pick you up.

I guess if one were to get prissy about what you tried one would also have to get prissy about stealing from airlines (sleepsuits, pepper pots, etc), sneaking more than one's duty free allowance through customs, and paying one's window cleaner in cash (or worse, taking a cash payment oneself!). Having done all those things, I am not about to throw stones.

Well I would have given it a go:D

It works on BA if you have a Y ticket to BAH and an onward F ticket from BAH-DOH (BA TP run) you can use LHR F check-in, fast track and even get in the concorde room at T4[y]

Well shame on you, jaguarpig, and you G_NEUS! I say bring back the birch for you miscreant types! Then again, birching's probably too good for 'em. How about tying these ne'r-do-wells to a supporting pillar in departures and lashing 'em with a cat o' nine tails till they beg for mercy? That'll learn 'em!

And don't even get me started on those filthy vagabonds who steal the salt and pepper pots...

I did try to buy an upgrade once I was airside, but there was no space available in any cabin, even though I was prepared to pay full price.

In the end though the flight was not too bad. Quite impressed by SQ really.

I appreciate your point of view Richard, but I did only try it out to see what would happen because there was no queue.

You would have loved this one I had on Sunday, and it's something I've seen a number of times before. I was travelling from Stockholm (coincidentally having spent the weekend with a friend who works for the same place you do) on BA in Club. A smartly dressed, 30-something guy and his other half were in front of us at the gate in the line with two enormous Louis Vuitton bags. I felt sure they looked like they were going to be in Club too.

On boarding, they opened the overhead locker right at the front of the aircraft over our seats (3A & 3B on the 767) and put their bags in there.

Then they walked all the way down the aisle to their seats in cattle about row 167.

I took great joy in taking their bags out and placing them on the overhead bins other side of the aircraft over the other aisle around row six. Amazingly there was then plenty of room for my little bag.

Cheers, Howard

Well done Howard. Cheeky beggars! I wonder how they got such big bags through security?

Really annoys me when people do things like that;)

I would have complained to the FA's. Then the passengers would have felt quite small when their bags were returned to them.

If they're going to do that, you should have asked around club to see if they belonged to anyone there. When you found it that the bags didn't you could have alerted the FA that there was some unattended luggage in the bins...[}:)]

(Actually I'm not that mean!;))

I have also witnessed this in Club Europe, the perp was the bald headed bloke with the pony tail who featured in a TV prog/series about the set-up of some lap dancing club in Westminster. The programme did follow him and one of his girls going to Vegas on VS, him in Upper her down the back(pure class). This occasion Him and performer were both down the back.
Also seen it on AA domestic F, this time the offending bags did go in our bin,a quick word with the FA and the perp was made to look a right prat as he was lectured by the irrate FA all the way back down the the plane with his retrieved bags.
