Upgraded PE Meal?

Have I missed something?.
Latest VS press release indicates the PE get an upgraded meal.
I was aware, from a previous thread, that some trials had been carried out using proper crockery, but I'm sure that it was also mentioned that it was just the normal Y food.
Can anyone confirm whether or not PE do now get an upgraded meal and if they do what does it consist of?.

In fairness, the two linked threads only describe the new PE meal as a "redesigned meal service". It could be that "redesigned" = "normal Y meal, re-plated onto proper plates" as has been suggested previously.
Even if the above was the case, this would still be an improvement - particularly if the courses were served individually (so kept in the oven / cold trolley until required).
Given that the scrooge pack was seen as "enhancement" to the UC service, I think I will hold fire on judging the changes to the PE food service until more details are available! I should add that the new PE seats look good though.

When do these new changes takes place? I fly mid-October and currently have PE seats (waiting for UC to become available).

sounds great...
but as with everything --- how long will it actually be before its rolled out accross the fleet.??
just hope the new PE seats and food will come my way soon...
getting fed up with taking my own food aboard - everyone looks at me as though I am an idiot!! but 6 hours into the flight they all look at me - green with envy, at having my own food!!
so glad you can still take food on plane with you!!

Just fyi there's a linked thread
here on the new PE offering which may give an indication of the likely timing of new seats etc (though not at press time of whether the service changes will come on stream at the same time across the whole fleet)

Interestingly, the article also mentions a dedicated toilet, wheras in a recent thread, someone said that they had a letter from VS stating that the toilet was shared with Y. Be interesting to see how that goes.

Hi,
IÕm flying to New York (EWR) with my partner at the end of Nov and weÕve just upgraded to PE. We are going over on VS001, which was to be a 747 but IÕve just noticed on our confirmation that itÕs now been changed to A340-600. Just wondering what our chances are of getting an aircraft with the new leather PE seat on our outbound flight. What are the timescales for the conversions of the PE Cabins, are the A340-300 being done as well?
Thanks for any help.

Hi -
this thread has more info on which a/c currently have the new seats and also discusses when the rest of the fleet will be re-fitted, there are no certain dates but it should help a bit.

Lainy,
You might find the detail in
this thread useful in answering your questions - this topic was specifically about the new food service.

Catering changes are usually done over the whole fleet/route network within a few days.
