So, has anyone received a 'Travel Notes' yet? And can share with us the wisdom and entertainment contained....?

Asked the concierge staff about this in the CH on way out to SFO- met with blank looks -info given by me as to what it was .Spoke with the CH duty manageress later who admitted that although she'd heard about them she had never actually seen any of them in the flesh.Said she'd try and find out a bit more and send me a notebook if she tracked them down.
Returned on Sat to find a copy of Travel Notes had arrived in the post from the Clubhouse.Said item is a red A3ish (paper not car) sized soft covered notebook (the sort that you buy in Woolworths for kids to write spelling lists and times tables in).Content is ads, a few games (Upper Class Hipster Bingo??),a few lined pages and other assorted rubbish (not even any sudoku Chris). I'd expected a nice classy little notebook in which things could be written (like a journal) and kept for posterity.
The reality is that it's another piece of trendy c**p that is no use to man nor beast and probably cost a fortune to devise/print etc.Even worse than Carlos IMHO.
Oh there's no pen either....

There was no sign of it in the LHR Clubhouse last week.

Re TravelNotes--meant to include in my last TR that the LHR CH entry agent gave me one--not sure why as it was after she had welcomed us through, but perhaps because we were sort of hanging around her station as we waited to check in bags and coats. She reached under her podium and somewhat hesitantly wondered if I might like to have one. Not knowing what it was, I did take a moment to look at it and then, enthusiastically said, yes.
The TravelNotes is actually quite nice--amusing, room for (yes) notes and reminders. Yes it is red (!) and a nice size for pocketing in briefcase but not losing.

However--still no pen on board...a real annoyance in UC as it still seems habit to use the amenity pen for notes as well as to complete duty free purchases on board as well as landing cards.

This is marketing gone mad. Utterly pointless. Last time I passed through LHR Clubhouse, the lovely laydeee on the front desk gave me one of these - although she did seem somewhat ashamed to be giving it out. There's little to it and to a genuine frequent flyer, the idea of carrying out something like this is .. well, not gonna happen. Could the folks at 'The Office' spend a bit more time thinking of perks that make us feel special and unique, rather than running around saying "look what i've produced lately". *sigh*

Sorry it didnt zing for you--I quite liked it. but then I have just the one--and I always like having the odd notepad and (and pen) ready to hand'. I suppose it would be less appealing if I were to be handed the same red pad every time I flew--but perhaps not?

As VS no longer make any effort to have even a teeny tiny notepad as an amenity, I actually don't see this small red one as marketing gone mad.
