Companion Ticket Change

We are still hoping to fly to Orlando in November following my heart surgery. Hopefully my GP will give the all clear. However to better understand our options at the present time does anyone know if we have an option to postpone our companion flight until the early part of 2007, or are there other options?????? I know we have the option of travel insurance. We just want to consider all available options.

We have tried calling Virgin but their new call centre operators have difficulty understanding and answering our query. Bring back the UK call centre.

Any advice would be very welcome.

What booking class were the reservations made in?

If its a companion ticket combination would that be a full-fare ticket and a reward ticket? I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is that transferring the full-fare ticket not a problem. The freebie ticket (the reward) can be transferred to another flight within a certain timeframe provided there is reward availability.

I would have thought that if you had a Doctors letter confirming that medical reasons were preventing you from travelling (or would make travelling risky) on the booked dates, then VS would be flexible about rebooking.

After all, the last thing any airline wants is a passenger onboard who falls ill and causes a medical emergency diversion. This costs a lot and inconveniences a lot of people.

Thanks for responses.

Paid ticket is an 'S' and companion a 'U'.

There may also be an insurance angle.
