hello

right , need an educated answer please from someone who knows. heres the story

have a return ticket to vegas got with 40,000 miles booked last easter
there are no reward upgrades available to premium or upper for dates
when trying to purchase a cash ticket just to see the availability ish , there were 4 bookable seats in premium and 1 in upper

now i have 35,000 miles in my account . enough for premium upgrade both ways or upper out and economy back . have never flown upper or premium before with virgin .

questions are
1) how many seats in premium and upper do they usually keep back and release 24 hours before flight
2) realistically what are my chances of upgrade on day with miles
3) what time should i get to the ticket desk before flight to ask ( is earlier better or later ), or can this be done the day before at the ticket desk as if you were doing twilight
4)can you do OLCI the day before and still upgrade with miles
5)do you get a CH pass if you upgrade with miles on the day to upper
6)what would you do if you had choice , premium both ways or upper out and economy home

sorry if ive asked a couple of these questions before in a previous post . not very up to speed flying with virgin

thanking you all in advance , its appreciated very much !

Early

Yes

Yes

upper out, economy home - Going out you're excited about the holiday upcoming, make the most of it by enjoying the Upper experience. Coming home - who cares, the holiday is over! ;)

Might help if knew when you were flying out (date and day) -vegas route can be pretty .
FWIW I'm with AndyK -Upper out, Y home but remember only 14 seats in UC and popular route so this may not be an option.

[:?] Wet liberal fence sitter that I am I find myself in two minds here...

- going out you're excited by the holiday upcoming so you need the enhanced experience less but coming back the feel of holiday experience needs to be enhanced so upgrade that direction;

BUT

- if you're coming back on a night flight why spend the cash on an upgrade if you're just going to sleep through it (unless sleep is v. v. important)?

AND

- the best CH experiences are on the way out of the UK (or so I'm led to believe[:(])

AND

- it would be fun to do the CH experience

BUT

- you don't say whether you're flying ex LGW (CH) or ex MAN (no CH so scrub the above point)

AND

- the amount of enjoyment you get out of the CH must (ISTBC) depend on the time of your flight and how much time you have to take advantage of its benefits. A 9 a.m. flight leaves very little time in the LGW CH.

SO

- On balance, I'm just like Indecisive Dave off the Fast Show.

J2 D1 Z0 W7 S7 K7, 3 Seats in UC and PE is wideopen for the oubound.

J1 D1 Z0 W7 S7 K7, 2 seats in UC again wideopen in PE for the return.

Your best bet is upgrading at the airport on the day, even then no garuntes as the LAS flight's usualy sellout.
