TWO aircraft at a time!

To get all aircraft fitted with Suites ASAP, two planes at a time will go in for refit from now on!

SHY and FAB are in at the moment.

Thought that was happening anyway, since the Boeings are going to Dublin and the Airbuses (Airbi?) to Toulouse.

Great news, sooner the better.

Does the suites refit include an upgrade to VPort for those that don't have it?

Declan, you are full of good news today!

A343s getting suites - yes

Upgrades happening as quickly as possible - yes

I think it has to happen, the competitive advantage UCS gives has a limited shelf life, more and more airlines now introducing flat (or near flat) beds. There's a real imperitive to get all the fleet done so there can be a guarantee of UCS if flying UC.

But there are flat beds and there is the UCS, the suite trashes any J product bed/coffin on the market and comes very close to First class space.

Is there any news when the LGW 747's are scheduled to go in for refit?

after- -XLG goes in, the last 747 at LHR to get suites.

Once G-VFAB is re-fitted that only leaves G-VXLG to be done then all LHR 744's will have UCS.

I would imagine that the A346's won't take too long to go through the re-fit as they already have V:Port, Wash and Kash seats so work will only need to be done on the Upper Class cabin areas.

The near flat J2000 equivalent type seat that other airlines are currently fitting in J class is so yesterday's news compared to UCS. There are still very few airlines with 100% flat bed/seats in J class.

When the LGW 744 get the new suites, do you think rows 11 & 12 will still be offerred to PE pax, as sometimes is the practice now, you can get an UC seat with PE service for PE price if your lucky.....

My thought is that as there is a greater demand for PE particulary on the LGW routes, they will add more PE downstarirs and "Zone B" for UC will go. What do our esteemed experts on VS think??

Given the interest in the layout of the LGW suite refit, here's the current plan;

Note that Zone B becomes PE, and there's a few extra Economy seats squeezed in.

Potentially as soon as September - but dates (and seat plans) may change. Until the first one actually goes for the refit, neither of those two things are absolute definites.

LGW config will be 14J 54W and 376Y

Heard that BGI flights wil be first to get suites early december!

declan - latest info I've seen (less than a week old) is 14J 58W 379Y - squeezing an extra row of W on the Upper Deck (facilitated by changes in the position of the loos and attendant seating), plus 6 extra Y downstairs, along with the change of Zone B to W.

Of course that may change again...

Ugh - 4 seats across in PE on the lower deck? [V] No thanks. And they think they can squeeze more people in upstairs - I sure hope not.

Guess I best get a payrise to allow UC to Vegas :D

I suppose its because they have the demand for PE. But is it because people want to pay more for their seats, or that Econ is so poor now and people are demanding more room (DVT, charters etc...)??

Well, bear in mind there's also 6 extra Y seats - so there's no lack in demand for Economy either.

On the Upper Deck, they've moved partitions and jump seats to get that extra row in, so still offers standard PE 38" pitch. Downstairs I would agree 2-4-2 doesn't look appealing if you're alone in the middle there - but given the holiday slant of the LGW flights, perhaps they've done their homework on this one and see demand for family passengers travelling in 4s?

At least LGW passengers travelling in UC are getting the Suite and a Bar - not the non-VS-standard Recaro seating and no usual VS frills.

Proper bar, but because of the space limitations it's a bit smaller and only has the two stools.

are the LGW 747's smaller than the LHR ones, or is it the lack of Zone "B" that makes it smaller?
