Hi peeps ,thought I'd ask you all a question. We recently upgraded to PE and picked the tickets up from TA today:D.The tickets state X class and were printed a month ago.
I phoned Virgin personally last week to pick our seats .The TA contacted Tradewinds today about the X class on our tickets and they said this was ok as virgin would have a record of our upgrade(new ticket not necessary). Is this ok?[?]Thanks,Katie.

You'll have no problem with the X class tickets once you get to the check-in desk, as your PNR (booking ref) will show that you are in PE as soon as it's entered into the computer.
The only problem I could foresee is gaining access to the PE check-in line, unless you have some evidence of the upgrade. (There is normally a VS staff member / security person at the entrance to the "premium" check-in lines to ensure they are only used by people who are travelling in PE / UC or have the correct Flying Club card (i.e. Silver or Gold).

Usually the Security guy at the front of the PE queue just asks us if we are flying in PE and when we say Yes, he just accepts in, can't remember having to ever show him specifically the fare class on the ticket or anything.

Strange, when we have been through the PE or UC checkin, the pre-screening staffer has always wanted to see tickets (e-tickets or conventional ones) and passports, we have never been allowed to pass following questions only?

That's my experience too. Perhaps we just look like we belong there...[8D]

I've been asked to show a printout of the itn or receipt by the agent at the PE entrance in LHR. Although, I think if I saw a 21 year old coming along on his own I might question him too. Unlike Paul, I probably don't look like I belong there (one of the reasons I always dress nice when I fly... I find it tends to avoid some of the questions for me).

Personally, and if you have the time to do so - I would get the tickets changed so that they have the correct class on them.
Alternatively go to the VS ticket desk at whichever airport you are flying from and get them changed before you to the the check in.
As has been previously mentioned you should have no problems because the unique PNR reference will show what class you are in - but none the less, the last thing you want is to have to have a debate with someone at the airport about having paid the difference to upgrade - for example - what if Tradewinds have not processed your upgrade correctly.
Out of interest have you tried logging into the
manage your flights section on the VS web site - this woudl confirm which class you are once you enter you enter the PNR.
Dont wish to make this a big problem - but I really woudl get new tickets issued before you travel[y]

You will need to get your tickets revalidated first before you can check-in anyway. So head towards the tickets sales desk, where they will revalidate the tickets for you. Normally just invovles placing a small sticker on top of your printed tickets and shoudl take no longer than 5 minutes. Then you can head to check-in; otherwise you may get through the first security check, but the check-in agent will send you back to get your tickets revalidated.
Thanks,
Richard

I agree with Richard above, and as Reissuing a ticket can take an agent ages but using a reval sticker at the ticket desk just a couple of mins perhaps this is why they do not want to.
Still, personally I'd really want some physical proof that my booking has been upgraded to PE.
The itinerary from 'Manage My Booking' would probably be good.

Even though your booking in Vega may show you as travelling in PE, you still need to get your tickets revalidated.
I put together a guid eto tickets, so you should be able to locate your PNR:
http://www.v-flyer.com/ticket.aspJust take your tickets (with red print) to the sales desk, they will check and revalidate the tickets.
Thanks,
Richard
