Has anyone had the shoulder massage? Are you expected to take you top off ? Do they use creams etc?

I think I had one of these last time we were in the CH. Its in one of those funny back to front type chairs where your face goes in a hole and feels all squished [:p].

No creams or nakedness. Not sure it did anything for me but was quite pleasant.

Spidey, which particular treatment are you referring to? and LHR or LGW?

A lot of the treatments incorporate massage but in different ways. The 'Fresh as a Daisy' at LHR involves you changing your top half into a slip on robe. The therapist uses oils and massages your neck and shoulders. They do ask beforehand if you have any allergies or problems with oils.

Further to Sarah's answer, if you mean on the aircraft then you are also not required to remove your sleepsuit/clothing.

Thanks for your replies, not keen on oils etc as part of my FAD I will ask for something else. My OH wanted a should massage, but again without the oils or taking of clothes. Maybe they would be flexible about that.

To give you some more details about the Fresh as a Daisy (FAD) treatment, just so you have more info before you make a decision:

My first ever beauty treatment was a FAD. I had previously thought that going for a beauty treatment would rob me of some of my masculinity, but I am glad that I got over that one. It is a wonderful experience that I have repeated.

Your therapist will leave the room whilst you remove whatever you are wearing on top (including chains) etc and put on a robe. The treatment then starts and the sensations and fragrance that you experience are wonderful. The eyebrow tidy involved some plucking which I had always avoided before when I prefered the werewolf look. If you are not a regular plucker then you might either want to skip this bit or be prepared to grit your teeth. The shoulder massage involves the therapist sliding his/her hands down your neck whilst you remain in the supine position, so your decency is never at risk (unless you are a dumb first timer and embarrass yourself by not bothering with the robe first time [:w]). Afterwards all oils and residue are wiped away leaving you feeling invigorated and relaxed at the same time. You are then left alone again to change back into your clothes before departing.
I like to tip good service so I make sure I have that handy before they leave. But I don't believe this is expected.

I write this just to make sure you or your OH are not making your decisions based on false impressions of what might be involved. I know you will enjoy the CH no matter what you decide to do.

Sounds great. How much would you tip? Since there are no prices it is hard to gauge, would about £5 be right?

£5/10 is what I usually give them - depending on what it was, and who/how they were [y]

All of them there are great though.
