Many posts have been made about the new seats but here's a really nice article online about the design of the new Economy and Premium Economy seats:

I couldn't find any pictures of the new seats, only ones of the UCS. Am I missing something? Thanks for the link though, I never knew who designed them.

Select 'Virgin Atlantic' then with the UCS image loads, select Premium on the bottom left of the screen to cycle through the images.

the major innovation is the introduction of a back pack on the back of each seat, which draws together all the functional elements used by the aft passenger and gives them ownership of this part of the seat.

Which is Marketing BS for "We've moved the v:port handset from the slot in the armrest (where you set the flight attendant call bell off every 3 minutes by accident) to a slot on the back of the seat in front".

I'm wondering if they have made the seat back pockets on the PE seat big enough - one of the failings of the 2001 "plastic terror" PE seat was the next to useless seatback pocket, which has since been modified. I'm still undecided about the loss of the leg rest too - it's been replaced by a fold-down foot rest.

Ah, thank you. I like the look of the new EC seats, these new pictures really give a nice perspective of them.

Don't underestimate the moving of the handset, I hate putting my monitor on in the night by accidentally knocking against it.[:I]

You are very right about the leg-rests though, I don't see how that is an improvement.
