OK chaps, indulge me here. Less than two weeks from our US trip now, so I've decided it's high time to start getting just a wee bit excited. Doing all the usual pre-pre-pre-flight stuff (checking destination weather, looking at route history, checking the seat map on VS website thrice daily) and just got to wondering about the not always favourable, but oft-discussed subject of UC food.

I'm guessing that LHR-LAX will be the Med fare, and that SFO-LHR will be akin the the menu that featured in mcuth's recent TR. If this is the case, any recommendations/must-haves/dishes to avoid like the plague?

On my recent VS20 flight (still not written a TR for it yet), I went for the crumbed goat cheese as a starter (a "light bite"), rather than one of the "real" starters, and the lamb with parsnip strings (calling them parsnip fries is a bit rich when they come out soggy).

I can recommend both!

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Mike. Good advice on substituting light bites for starters - Mrs. mdvipond will go for the goat's cheese like a hyena on a lame antelope (I know, nice mental picture). And I was already pretty much sold on the lamb, although maybe I'll pass on the soggy parsnip strings.
