My wife is pregnant with our first child and we are flying out PE to New York in late August, which by that time she will be 22 weeks....whats the chance of us getting upgraded? Has anyone else been in a similar position and if so did they upgarde you?

We were in the same situation last April. No upgrade[:(], but the misses did get a bulkhead head seat[8D]. We were travelling in Y class.

On our flight back from SFO last March we were on the UD row 70 in PE and a short way into the flight a couple were brought up and put in two free J2000 seats in row 2. She looked about seven months and I'm sure it was her pregnancy that got them upgraded because they didn't seem to know any of the cabin crew that accompanied them to the seats or attended them later.

Not sure why they would upgrade you for being preganant.

Upgrade Policy is becoming stricter now to protect the Upper Class suite product which will be on ALL JFK flights by July 1st.

However as August is going to be busy there is a chance of an upgrade to clear over sales!

Remember Gold and Silver Flying club members are upgraded first then pregnant passengers!!

The cabin crew will be more than happy to provide you with a bottle of water though.

This is slightly OT but you mention that August is busy.
I have a G class booked to SFO in August - am I in danger of a downgrade during this busy period?
I am assuming that rewards passengers are the first to get bumped downwards.

Surely they cant force you to downgrade? They will have to offer u some considerable compensation.

Well, sometimes you end up with two options, downgrade or catch the next flight, but the compensation from VS is best in the business, or so I hear

if you have connecting flights (booked on ANA with Virgin Reward points) I presume they would let u change the next flight for free. Also what sort of comp are we talking here. Are they likely to pay you cash if you booked a reward flight?

My experience is that non-revenue ticketholders cannot be accepted if they volunteer to give up their seats, although the caveat is that it depends on just how many volunteers are needed.

Interesting point, Ian. I have not heard that and I am sure I have heard of reward pax being VOed - anyone else any thoughts?
