New Upper Class Design

We have all noticed the new products from SIA and BA so I was wondering does anybody think VS will now vary when they change from the "herringbone" design or resort to an even more radical design (if its possible) - My feeling are that they should look at SIA approach and maybe go back to basics but with more luxury than the existing UC. I think the more "added plastics" and gimmicks such as fancy dividers only lessen the luxury that VS should be going for. Maybe Im completly wrong but would prefer to see a huge seat that is lie flat with all the extras to make it a flight to remember.

Umm... "a huge seat that is lie flat with all the extras"?

You mean like the UCS? - given that it's still the biggest business class seat in the sky? ;)

Keith,

This thread that you started a few weeks ago on practically the same subject should help you with this thread I would of thought!

BA and SIA had not released their new products then + now they have been released , I am trying to compare what we have seen BA and SIA have released. Does anybody have the same opinion as me that the new BA product looks nice but as many have notoced and remarked - "plastic" - SIA seem to have put a more luxury approach - I feel VS should go down the route of SIA rather than simply try outdo BA on design - maybe they can do this?

I am sure that VS started planning the new Upper Class the day the first flight left with the current suites.

Now if VS would bring back the UCS product of 3 years ago...

Yes - I never had the chance to fly with them when it was first released but am still impressed with the existing UC apart from the ""kits"" and in general , the food. How good was it when it first came out?

As I've said before, at 6'5 tall and rather broad shouldered, I find the UCS is uncomfortable for normal sitting in... Give me a regular layout seat anyday. I can't understand how SQ's new layout will work. But it sure looks good, and comfortable for both sleeping and sitting.

I think the footwell is the key, i think you will be sleeping at a bit of an angle.

TBH i love the herringbone layout. It gives everyone asile access and is SO much better than having to climb over somebody!!

I still think that VS is ahead of the game in terms of seat design even with the renewed competition. I can't see them replacing UCS in the near future.
I too like having access to the aisle, but would prefer better window views - ah well, we can't have everything;)

VS.

Can someone just remind me who the Marketing Director is for SIA? I seem to have got myself confused on the point, thinking it was a Singaporean person.
